LTDO could easily win in the R&B field so i don’t think they will waste the opportunity

Yeah. Also the opportunity to receive multiple nominations for the (one) song in the R&B categories.

Get real!  The following do NOT have a decent chance of getting in Best Pop Vocal Album:

Lana Del Rey, Chemtrails Over the Country Club
    Doja Cat, Planet Her
    The Kid Laroi, Fuck Love
    Lorde, Solar Power
Demi Lovato, Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over
    Kacey Musgraves, Star-Crossed

Was kinda curious to see where GD is leaning for pop predictions so here’s where the odds for all predicted songs stand after a day of the pop game being open.

For convenience, I just did the most common prediction for each artist for pop solo. I separated them for duo as it was hard to do the math for the Stay/Peaches, Cold Heart/Prisoner/Levitating and Higher Power/My Universe/Butter predictions.

Bolded everything currently predicted to get nominated.

    Pop Solo Performance

    1. drivers license – Olivia Rodrigo (2400 points)
    2. happier than ever- Billie Eilish (1555 points)
    3. Montero (Call Me By Your Name)-Lil Nas X (1180 points)
    4. Bad Habits- Ed Sheeran (780 points)
    5. Positions -Ariana Grande (675 points)
    6. Willow-Taylor Swift (135 points)
    7. Anyone – Justin Bieber (60 points)
    8. Need To Know – Doja Cat (35 points)
    9. We’re Good – Dua Lipa (10 points)
    10. Do I Love You/911- Lady Gaga / All I Know So Far – P!nk (5 points)

    Pop Duo/Group Performance

    1. Kiss Me More – Doja Cat ft. SZA (2200 points)
    2. Stay – The Kid Laroi ft. Justin Bieber (1625 points)
    3. I Get A Kick Out Of You-Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga (1380 points)
    4. Peaches – Justin Bieber feat. Daniel Caesar & Giveon (1325 points)
    5. Levitating-Dua Lipa ft. DaBaby (525 points)
    6. Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) Elton John, Dua Lipa & PNAU (395 points)
    7. Butter-BTS (350 points)
    8. My Universe-Coldplay & BTS (235 points)
    9. Higher Power-Coldplay (210 points)
    10. Prisoner-Miley Cyrus ft. Dua Lipa (100 points)
    11. Lo Vas A Olvidar-Billie Eilish & Rosalía (75 points)
    12. Industry Baby-Lil Nas X ft. Jack Harlow (50 points) (I think this would probably be higher if we had confirmation that it was going pop tbh)
    13. Heat Waves-Glass Animals/Even When/The Best Part-Olivia Rodrigo & Joshua Bassett (15 points)
    14. Cover Me In Sunshine – P!nk and Willow Sage Hart/Rumours – Lizzo ft. Cardi B/I Still Have Faith in You / Don’t Shut Me Down – Abba (5 points)

    Pop Vocal Album
    1. Sour-Olivia Rodrigo (2235 points)
    2. Happier Than Ever-Billie Eilish (2075 points)
    3. Positions-Ariana Grande (685 points)
    4. Justice-Justin Bieber (570 points)
    5. Evermore-Taylor Swift (475 points)
    6. Montero-Lil Nas X (395 points)
    7. Planet Her-Doja Cat (180 points)
    8. Star-Crossed-Kacey Musgraves (25 points)

These are pretty accurate predictions! I can totally see them all happening in nominations day. (Let’s see what @Boz, the pop game creator has to say)

Pretty much. I’m actually surprised at how diverse most categories are. Last year we mostly had the same six to seven names in all categories.

    FYC - Lil Nas X
MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) - ROTY, SOTY, Best Pop Solo Perf., Best Music Video
INDUSTRY BABY - Best Melodic Rap Perf., Best Rap Song
MONTERO - AOTY, Best Pop Vocal Album

Are we sure Planet Her & Star-Crossed don’t have a decent chance of getting in Best Pop Vocal Album? Doja will likely be the token R&B/Pop artist who dominates nominations & Kacey is a previous Album of the Year winner doing a lot of promo.

I don’t think Planet HER is missing. Today she just surpassed Drake as the artist with the most monthly listeners. She’s having a very big year.

Planet Her is widely underestimated here. The record just became the second album ever to have three simultaneous top 10 hits on the Pop airplay chart, and that’s ignoring how much longevity it’s had and the multiple streaming hits that aren’t part of those pop radio top 10s (Get Into It, Woman, Ain’t Shit).

    FYC - Lil Nas X
MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) - ROTY, SOTY, Best Pop Solo Perf., Best Music Video
INDUSTRY BABY - Best Melodic Rap Perf., Best Rap Song
MONTERO - AOTY, Best Pop Vocal Album

I personally think Ariana Grande will be the pop act left out this year.

I really liked Planet Her but I really do not see it happening in the album categories. Yes, it’s a commercially successful album and has been very stable since it’s release, but it’s hard for me to see it beating out Taylor, Justin and Ariana. Taylor is Taylor and Justin and Ariana are under Scooter Braun and we already know Olivia & Billie are locks. I hope I get proven wrong because it deserves 100%.

Imo, I (personally) think that it could either be Doja or Lil Nas X that would receive the name check nominations across the board in the Pop categories.

Of all the Pop Vocal Album contenders, Olivia, Billie, Doja, Lil’ Nas X, & Justin have remained the most consistent throughout 2021. Taylor to a certain extent because of her re-releases. Ariana has The Voice & a #1 collaboration (that won’t be submitted). But Positions, the album, feels like an afterthought. I know it did fairly well yet compared to others, the buzz waned. I wouldn’t underestimate a nomination, however, a snub wouldn’t surprise me either.

Olivia, Taylor and Doja have the 3 biggest releases in terms of successes. I expect to see all three in the final lineup. And of course the lineup won’t be complete without Billie. So 1 spot left.
