Not when someone got nominated everywhere last time for a much better album. Coldplay nomination has many factors involved.

The competition is shaping up to be a bloodbath. I wonder who’s going to miss a nomination and be Post Malone’d directly into the General Field.

I’m not sure if Lana is going to get a nomination this year. She’s expected to end up around at least 7th/8th for BPVA. In 2020, Lil Nas X & her lost to the arguably the weakest performing albums released by Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift.

    1. Adele
    2. Billie
    3. Ariana
    4. Taylor
    5. Ed
    6. Bieber
    7. Kelly
    8. Lana

We should also keep an eye out for Lorde and newbies like Olivia Rodrigo.

    FYC:

Record of the Year: Hit Different by SZA ft. Pharrell Williams & co.
Song of the Year: Good Days by SZA ft. Jacob Collier

Let’s wait for summer, Positions may be forgotten by then. I doubt it is contender for GF, given the mediocre acclaim. For now Drivers License sets the tone for Grammys 2022. Adele is also coming, so there is no much space for middle of the Road projects in GF from pop acts.

I doubt Positions will be forgotten. The title track is doing extremely well & is stable on the charts. There’s always a pop album that does extremely well for Q1 that tops the charts for the year. My money is so far Ariana. Additionally, we don’t know how 34+35 will perform since the Remix released & her original single is going to be in the top 10.

    RIP SOPHIE

Positions will probably get Ariana her usual pop nominations, but with a bunch of notable releases and curveballs coming, I wouldn’t necessarily bet a whole lot of love in the general field. It’s nice to try to use the Coldplay comparison, but they were curveballs that no one really predicted. Ariana wouldn’t be that.

Early Pop Predictions (This will all most likely change)

    *no particular order*

    Pop Vocal Album
    1. Evermore – Taylor Swift
    2. Positions – Ariana Grande
    3. Wonder – Shawn Mendes
    4. Plastic Hearts – Miley Cyrus
    5. Chemtrails Over The Country Club – Lana Del Rey

    Pop Solo Performance
    1. Drivers License – Olivia Rodrigo
    2. Positions – Ariana Grande
    3. Willow – Taylor Swift
    4. Wonder – Shawn Mendes
    5. Anyone  – Justin Bieber

    Pop Duo/Group Performance
    1. Levitating
    2. Evermore/No Body No Crime
    3. Lonely/Holy/Monster
    4. 34+35 Remix
    5.

I agree with this. Ultimately it is a step down from Thank U Next and that will hold her back from the general field.

Why does BPVA feel so dead currently? Evermore and Positions are no-brainers but what else? Maybe Chemtrails? Lana is 50/50 in this category so who knows. (BTW Only talking abt albums that are already released/confirmed to be dropping this year because honestly, I don’t think Adele and all these other artists that are rumored are actually dropping)

! The claim in this post is disputed

    My current predictions:

    BPVA:

    Positions by Ariana Grande

    Evermore by Taylor Swift

    Plastic Hearts by Miley Cyrus

    COTCC by Lana Del Ray

    Wonder by Shawn Mendes

    – If the awards were tomorrow, Positions would win, b/c Taylor would overperform in 2021

    BPSP:

    Positions by Ariana Grande

    Willow by Taylor Swift

    Anyone by Justin Bieber

    Wonder by Shawn Mendes

Therefore I am by Billie Eilish

If awards happened tomorrow I would give Ariana the award…

btw Praying that Olivia Rodrigo gets nowhere near the Grammys…

    BPGDP:

    Levitating by DuaLipa & DaBaby

One of the Taylor Swift collabs

One of the Justin Bieber collabs

34+35 Remix by Ari, Megan, & Doja

    ????

Literally Dua & DaBaby would take this

Get real!  Ariana Grande is NOT happening in Record of the Year.  “Positions” (album and song) will be completely forgotten soon.

Ariana and Justin are rumored to have a collaboration coming on Justin’s next album… If that’s the case then i’ll rule out any current/predicted bpdg noms for both, as this collab will most likely be submitted.

Then in order to maximize submissions she would go put the 34+35 Remix under MRP

Also, is Rihanna making a pop album?, I thought that R9 was not going to be strictly pop as with her earlier work and be more a la ANTI. Does anyone know what genre of music it’s going to be?

Ri is rumored to be making 2 records: 1 Pop & 1 Reggae. But knowing her, she’ll probably release 1 album and send it to Progressive R&B.

The Grammys possibly giving Positions a Grammy while Thank U, Next remains Grammyless

that’s what i was thinking as well, but it’ll depend on how the remix performs in the upcoming weeks
