A tad early but may as well make this thread now as we’re into the 2021 eligibility period.
The 63rd annual Grammy Awards will take place January 31st 2021.
Confirmed artists releasing during this eligibility period (* = past Grammy nominee):
Goo Goo Dolls*
The Highwomen (Brandi Carlile*, Natalie Hemby*, Maren Morris*, Amanda Shires*)
Lana Del Rey*
Artists that haven’t confirmed, although are anticipated to release during this period:
Lil Uzi Vert*
Megan Thee Stallion
Ty Dolla $ign
Obviously this isn’t everyone, and some of them might not release.September 2, 2019 at 7:42 am #1203053166
Also I’m curious to know if the deadline will go back to the end of September or if they keep the August cut-off.September 2, 2019 at 11:40 am #1203053595
Ariana is releasing the CA soundtrack, so she’s confirmed.September 2, 2019 at 11:43 am #1203053599
Celine Dion too, but judging by the single she’s released so far (its called Flying On My Own and it’s… interesting) its gonna be critically mixed/ panned, though it will probably sell decently.September 2, 2019 at 11:43 am #1203053601
If Adele is releasing, the discussion can be closed.September 2, 2019 at 11:52 am #1203053633
she’s curating it, meaning she’ll probably perform all the songs, choose all the collabs and have a production credit on each one.
Oh, I had no idea. I thought she was only doing that one track w/ Miley & Lana. Let me change that real quick.September 2, 2019 at 11:54 am #1203053635
CA Soundtrack will be a non-factor.
Anyway as far as Pop goes, we know Adele will sweep again.September 2, 2019 at 12:52 pm #1203053748
The Blue-Ribbon Panel better block Adele. I’m tired of her sweeping.September 2, 2019 at 1:13 pm #1203053780
The Blue-Ribbon Panel better block Adele. I’m tired of her sweeping.
They will block her if she’s deniable in any way. “Set Fire to the Rain” and “Skyfall” both missed in the general field. “Hello” was an otherworldly smash, arguably the biggest hit of her career, and 25 broke all kinds of sales records and was a huge comeback for her. That was undeniable.September 2, 2019 at 1:30 pm #1203053818
They won’t block Adele if she gets another huge album with more acclaim than 21 & 25.
At least she will be nominated in the Pop field and she will win both categories like Ed did (Pop solo and pop album). The general field nomination will be the hardest part for her. Either way she has won AOTY, SOTY & ROTY 2 times so I doubt she’s losing sleep over that.September 2, 2019 at 1:31 pm #1203053826
She’s gonna release the most succesful pop album of the year even if she declines with 50%. I suppose it’s a possibility her era will be shortlived and her momentum will have died down by time of voting. But tbh Ed’s snub was due to them needing a black winner and Taylor’s snub was due to her making decisions Adele would never make. So it’s kinda unlikely for an Adele boycot to happen. Especially since the span between her releases is so long that the panel won’t care about her sweeping again.September 2, 2019 at 1:35 pm #1203053832
BRP won’t have the guts to block Adele. The backlash and the boycott will be huge, especially in a 8 nominee lineup.
They love her. She brings in the ratings like no one else can. They won’t care if she wins 3 times. She’s the type of artist who deserves that.
