Coming for another generation-defining critically-succesful monumental moment in pop and music history that will forever leave a mark on the history of American segregation and systematic racism just to lose to a white person singing about love.

    Hate to see it.

I said semi-niche artist. She’s not a well know pop artist like Billie or Ariana, but not as well as indie acts like Clairo and Rina Sawayama. Like the general public acknowledges she’s around, but they aren’t crazy for her. The only ones who do are gays and Tik Tok

She’s no more “semi-niche” or “niche” than Rihanna was on her second release. Niche artists are people like Janelle Monae, St. Vincent, Bjork, etc. Are we calling pop stars with huge pop hits who can’t sell shit “niche” now?

Dua Lipa is a pop star, making huge pop radio hits. She’s not a Lana Del Rey. She’s just a boring personality outside of her music. Stop with the foolishness. She’s not niche, period.

Kendrick what is this? I’m unsure but I’m here for it!

I would LOVE for Kendrick to drop and sweep the entire Rap Field.

Album of the Year will probably never happen.

“you look like your picture, thank god.”

Niche: denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.

Lana probably sells higher than Dua, to say her albums aren’t niche is stupid.

    FYC:
AOTY: Fetch the Bolt Cutters or After Hours
ROTY & SOTY: Blinding Lights & Don’t Start Now
BNA: Megan Thee Stallion or Rina Sawayama
    Rap Album: RTJ4
    Pop Album: SAWAYAMA
    Rock Album: The New Abnormal
    R&B Performance: Do It

Which is not Dua Lipa in the slightest. That’s like calling Jason DeRulo a niche artist. Dua Lipa still gets a ton of streams and radio airplay, which doesn’t describe a niche artist. You would have done better saying that the reason her numbers are low is because of the lack of promotional slots during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also saying that she appeals to the Tik Tok crowd (one of the most popular apps out there) makes her a “niche artist” is utterly ridiculous.

Honey Dua Lipa is not niche, just the General Public in USA don’t care about her, she’s like Kylie Minogue just less iconic and more generic

You can have amazing singles, yet you’re deep cuts as well as the album is niche. Come on now, 5SOS had a bigger album and those dudes haven’t had a hit song since Yungblood. Dua Lipa has been preparing for this album for a couple of months, yet no excitement. Her album sales were weak. No deep cuts aren’t charting as well as the main 3. Dua Lipa can be a mainstream pop artist, yes. But is she’s as big as Billie Eilish or Ariana Grande? No. Yet the only people who I’ve heard rave about the album is the music community. Her album is niche. Period.

I can see Dua Lipa still going platinum when all is said and done. Even if it takes her 2 years to do it. The album will have legs.

Future Nostalgia and Dua Lipa herself is still kinda niche. It reminds me of Melodrama in that both are pretty straight-forward pop albums that have more critical backing than sales. It’s not like Dua Lipa is freaking Father John Misty, but her music is still a bit niche-y in the context of pop music.

Lorde is a pop star, yet Melodrama is a niche album. Get the point of niche?

And as well Dua Lipa’s numbers due to Coronavirus have nothing to do with going number 1. 5SOS & The Weeknd got higher. She’s should have gone #1 even with the Coronavirus. And you say her music isn’t niche.

5SOS & The Weeknd got higher.

    Both numbers are inflated.

After Hours’ second week was goosed by the addition of three new songs to the set on Monday (March 30), which helped drive streaming activity for the album. Further, the album continued to benefit from more than 90 merchandise/album bundles available on The Weeknd’s official website, as well as sales generated by a concert/ticket album sale redemption offer with his upcoming tour.

Calm’s album sales in the tracking week ending April 2 were bolstered by dozens of merchandise/album bundles sold via the group’s official website, as well as its concert ticket/album sale redemption offer. (While 11,000 CDs from that offer were delivered in the tracking week ending March 26, the rest of the redemptions — and there was a sizable number — were fulfilled in the tracking week ending April 2.)

Dua Lipa did not have those factors.

And an artist with almost 60 million monthly listeners on Spotify is NOT niche and will never be, no matter how y’all flip it. Facts over feelings.

I still see Dua having longevity. As long as she keeps herself on the radio, she’s fine. Her album is still top 10 meanwhile CALM and After Hours aren’t.

I thought that The Weeknd is spending his 2nd week number one if I’m not correct.
