No, we will not. He’s not any better than his American counterparts and doesn’t deserve hype just for being Japanese.

Why would anyone hype an artist because of their nationality 💀 Make it make sense. His music is just great.

Holy shit, I just searched up Joji and found out he’s Filthy Frank! Now I’m interested.

Joji is releasing his 3rd album this year and will have a combined total of more than 30 tracks. Wouldn’t that make him ineligible to compete in Best New Artist?

I don’t think any of the contenders for Best New Artist look strong at the moment.

I think Doja Cat is not conservative enough to take home that win. I think Grammy voters would rather pull a Esperanza Spalding if she is the “frontrunner.”

Question – will the tracks Joji made as Pink Guy qualify to the amount of songs he has for BNA purposes? Because if so, meme machine might have cost him a Grammy nomination.

(I hope Joji gets some recognition, Slow Dancing in the Dark and Run are great songs)

    It’s racism, your honor.

I’m not racist. I just don’t at all get the hype for his music and am trying to find a reason.

The new Rina Sawayama album is getting really great reviews so far. I hope she can get into AOTY like NFR or Melodrama as a critical darling pop alternative act – STFU and Comme Des Garcons are great tracks! I also love her voice, and admire her genre combining approach to pop.

Also, this new Fiona Apple album is great so far! A great day for alternative pop.

I liked “I’m ready”. Its a good song IMO

But after the DWAS snub last year I’m not very sure with Sam, they seem to ignore him

with lana and lorde, even kacey, they are mainstream products with strong niche appeal, I don’t think sawayama fits into that same category

fiona’s album is my favorite this year so far, and I do have her in for an aoty nod, mainly because her exact narrative worked for vampire weekend already

Cherry by Rina is one of my favorite songs so I’m definitely gonna listen to her album. I hope it isn’t as overrated as FN.

About the Grammys, I still think she doesn’t stand a chance unless she gets a semi-hit, at least.
