Even though Stupid Love didn’t perform better than ME!, it was showered with acclaim from music critics whereas ME! was pretty much panned everywhere. If Joanne got in Pop Solo (even won it) all because of hype, Stupid Love will probably getting in also, she won’t be lacking hype (Collaborations with BLACKPINK and Ariana)

My point was that it really doesn’t matter. Someone is going to love some stuff you love and not love some stuff you love. It’s just their opinion. In fact, I automatically resented that 10 from Pitchfork and the 100 from Metacritic. I think it’s a great album (though perhaps not even quite my second favorite Fiona Apple). And I love all the praise and awards buzz she’s getting. But it places a target on her back. I would give almost nothing a perfect 10. It’s very arbitrary. And many people who would never listen to anything close to the music Fiona makes now feels the need to chime in because of those scores. But as a long time fan, I love that my bytch is making history and suddenly people are interested in talking about her and recognizing her career achievements and influence.
