ReplyCopy URLAugust 20, 2020 at 7:50 am #1203656537Music Video: Rain on Me isn’t getting a nomination because it’s not a well made video. Even if it sweeps the VMA’s, they will block it.
Music Film: This category is always filled with veteran(as in 90s, 80s, 70s) acts. Doubt they would nominate both Taylor and Beyoncé. Maybe only one or neither of them. Shakira isn’t getting a nomination either.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 20, 2020 at 7:53 am #1203656541I believe Billie Eilish is getting completely shut out this year.
Mainstream contenders:
Blinding Lights(winner) and Post Malone
Dua Lipa’s Physical would be deserving of a nom/win but this song wasn’t even a single in the US, if I’m not mistaken. It won’t be submitted and even if it was, would probably be snubbed.

The Weeknd, “Blinding Lights”August 20, 2020 at 1:22 pm #1203657255I’m new to this- how often do the Grammys actually nominate and award genuinely good music videos? Like with excellent production value, cinematopgraphy, direction, design, acting/story/choreo (if applicable)? Or am I right in thinking it usually goes to an impactful/popular/successful song even if the video is nothing special?

ReplyCopy URLOctober 26, 2020 at 5:07 pm #12038042645th Annual Critics Choice Documentary Awards Nominees Announced.
– Beastie Boys Story is nominated for Best Music Documentary
– Taylor Swift will receive the honor for “Miss Americana” as most compelling living subjects of a documentary.Link to see full list
“Beastie Boys Story” received 5 EMMYs noms and won Best Documentary at the Hollywood Critics Association Award. I think it’s the frontrunner for Best Music Film at the Grammys.

A Palé was released after the deadline. It could be nominated this year, but her team chose TKN for the Latin Grammys.
