Which of his singles were snubbed?

He’s been snubbed in BPDG before.

The Weeknd’s snubs on Pop field happened because there were crowded line-ups. In 2019 there were 7 but most of them were already predicted (“Pray for Me” wasn’t), the previous ones weren’t. He won’t be snubbed when:

there are 5 songs – the medium of songs they hear in Album categories – produced by Max Martin and 8 of them (51% of the playing time) are pop (these ones + “Too Late”, “Faith” and the title track)

it has the biggest song of the year – a pop one – and that alone helps nominations (see Divide, Blurred Lines, Uptown Special and Camila). He’s safely in – and is also lobbying for pop votes.

If the weeknd has repeatedly been snubbed in duo/group why are people predicting him this year?

The Weeknd’s “bad history” on Pop field is that he missed mainly due to crowded line-ups. In 2019 there were 7 but most of them were already predicted (“Pray for Me” wasn’t), the previous ones weren’t. He won’t be snubbed when:

Pop Album is a crowded field.

Weak contenders (and he’s back to promote the album, who knows). I have him at #6 mostly as a random nom that we have every year, but honestly “Intentions” or any other song will replace it easily.

Pray For Me was definitely more predicted than the Backstreet Boys and Tony Bennett.

Also it’s a lie that all of The Weeknd’s misses have been competitive. I Feel It Coming was big enough to edge out Stay by Zedd/Alessia Cara, especially with Daft Punk being featured guests.

Are you really predicting a pop shutout for Dua Lipa? I don’t see it.

“Die for You” is his only previous Pop Solo submission that I can remember, and that was not an expected nominee. “In the Night” would have been ineligible because of the album winning a Grammy a year earlier.

Which is lame because In the Night is my favorite song by him. I jam out to it all the time

I really am. Pop Solo and Pop Album are crowded. I have her getting one ROTY nomination like Khalid last year. Maybe they’ll throw her a bone and put her in AOTY too.
