I mean it was a single but definitely not a hit

How was YNTCD not a hit? It peaked at #2 and held up through the year, and made the top 40 of the Billboard Year-End.

Delicate was #24 on the Billboard Year-End and still missed the nomination despite being a better song. So YNTCD’s nomination was definitely not that expected, especially over some of the biggests hits of 2019.

That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that it was, in fact, a hit song.

Also YNTCD was a lot of people’s 7th pick last year, so I don’t agree with the notion that it was a random nomination. She had a lot of buzz near voting since her album came out in August, she had the VMAs hype, and pop field voters like going with more established acts than newer singers like Halsey and Lewis Capaldi. Let’s stop acting like that nomination was out of nowhere.

I don’t think it was ‘a random nomination’ because Taylor had an album eligible to help, but being the 7th choice out of 5 possible nominees does not represent a song that is very likely to be nominated and Taylor Swift does not have a great track in this specific category, so her nomination was definitely a surprise.

Especially because in the previous year she had an eligible song (which also had an eligible album to help that was nominated) and the song was very predicted to be nominated. And it wasn’t 6th or 7th pick, people were predicting as 2nd or 3rd pop solo nominee.

I don’t think Savage Love will be nominated, despite it going #1. Jason Derulo has never been nominated by the Grammy’s, even during his peak from 2009-2013. I don’t see why they would nominate him now.

    Fuck the Grammys

I feel like we are all way too confident in the 6 nominees being touted for Pop Vocal Album. IDK but I feel like 2 of the Predicted 6 will miss. If there’s any hope it will be Gaga and Post Malone. But we’ll see.

    POP SOLO:

    “Blinding Lights” – The Weeknd
    “Circles” – Post Malone
“Dont Start Now” – Dua Lipa
    “Say So” – Doja Cat
    “Watermelon Sugar” – Harry Styles

    POP DUO/GROUP:

“Level of Concern” – twentyone pilots
“Stuck With U” – Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber
“Exile” – Taylor Swift f/ Bon Iver
“If the World Was Ending” – JP Saxe & Julia Michaels
“My Oh My” – Camila Cabello f/ DaBaby

    POP VOCAL ALBUM

    Fine Line – Harry Styles
    Future Nostalgia – Dua Lipa
    folklore – Taylor Swift
    Hollywood’s Bleeding – Post Malone
    After Hours – The Weeknd

<praying for a Pop shutout for Lady Gaga. Thanks Darren for the inspo.>

LMAO I’m not “praying” for Dua Lipa to miss pop nominations; I like her music and really couldn’t care less what she does or doesn’t get. Don’t credit me for your delusions.

At this point, BPDGP is gonna be a complete mess, maybe even more than 2019. So few votes coupled with literally no obvious choices (I dont feel like My Oh My, ITWWE, Intentions etc. are getting in)… I expect some totally weird picks.

    FYC:

    folklore: AOTY, BPVA
    cardigan: SOTY
    exile: BPDGP

    Don't Start Now: ROTY, BPSP

    Ungodly Hour: BPR&BA
    Do It: BR&BS
Wonder What She Thinks Of Me: BTR&BP

    Phoebe Bridgers: BNA
    Punisher: Alt. A
    Kyoto: BRS, BRP

Rooting for In Your Eyes to get a WTF nomination there (i’ll just pretend it’s the solo version or the duet with Kenny G)
