Maybe 1989 the album wouldn’t exist, but a pop album was always going to happen from Taylor imo. There were so many signs that she would cross over at some point.
November 30, 2020 at 7:45 am #1203884448It was nominated for AOTY. It was not under appreciated.
Yeah, that’s kinda true but I distinctly remember everyone calling the red era an underperformance and her “flop” era after 1989 happened. It was also her least appreciated album in the fandom initially. I mean it took them so many years to acknowledge the masterpiece all too well was.

when she received the pinnacle award in country she left for pop
when she received artist of the decade she switched from pop to alt
I guess when she thinks she has reached her “peak” in each genre she ventures into a new one.

get real that is no excuse. Lady Gaga has worn the most outrageous outfits and costumes yet she was praised with Grammys during her debut. The Grammys is institutionally racist and sexist especially during Nicki’s debut. It wasn’t until recently maybe a couple of years ago until they became more diverse which is why cardi b won best rap album. Remember when Kendrick lost best rap album and best new artist to two white guys Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. That was the biggest red flag of the Grammys’ corruption.

SOTY/ROTY always to the same artist. This pattern should stop.
November 30, 2020 at 8:40 am #1203884591YIKES, MEGATRON, MOVE YOUR…., TROLLZ. 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Those are her most recent releases. During her debut, she had fly ft. Rihanna, Moment for life, Super Bass, Right thru me. She was everywhere. She deserved that win. It was more than a snub. It was a moment of racism and sexism to not want to award a confident and self-assured black female rap artist.

there’s no racism involved there, as much as she weaponizes that narrative
November 30, 2020 at 8:47 am #1203884612I dont think Nicki Minaj was even respected in hip-hop community to win a Grammy, dont forget she was kinda a pop act in 2010-2012 and people were kinda turned off by her antics.
I see where you’re coming from but she would have gotten the pop and hip hop votes. However, I think the Grammy voters at the time who were primarily white middle-aged and older men did not want to award a black woman but instead a white man. It’s as simple as that which is why the Grammys is corrupt. Their voting antics are so dated and biased. Yet they continue to incorporate them. We more than just diversity, we need a redesigned voting system

- but that’s the thing. “Better album” is subjective. It’s more than just having a better album. It’s called best new artists for a reason. Y’all want to keep denying that it’s about race as if systemic racism doesn’t exists in almost all institutions in America. Mind you that the Grammys began in 1959 which was before the civil rights act was passed. And like I’ve said before, during Nicki’s debut, Majority of the Grammy voters at the time were still white men. Do you expect them to have voted for a black woman like Nicki Minaj? No. So keep that bs to yourself. We know the truth. The Grammys have proven time and time again that they do not value black artists as much as white artists. What the hell is “progressive r&b”. To keep creating this cycle of changing labels and names of categories means nothing. To keep this cycle of voting and awarding the same artists and allowing them to sweep is tired. True systemic change must come. This is why the Grammys is losing credibility each year. The former ceo exposed them the other year. Did that shock people? No. We’ve have always known but needed confirmation. This is not an opinion. This is mere fact.
