I don’t think the voters care anymore about the difference between Song and Record of the Year. So I’m predicting Don’t Start Now for both.

There needs to be a different set of voters for Song and Record.

I think so too, and it would be deserved. However, there is a possibility that cardigan was blocked in record of the year in order to avoid another general field sweep. DSN might not be as big of a lock in Song as it is in Record.

Song: Single Ladies – Beyoncé
2013
Record: Somebody that I Used to Know – Gotye
Song: We are Young – fun.
2014
Record: Get Lucky – Daft Punk

Record: Uptown Funk – Mark Robson and Bruno Mars
Song: Thinking Out Loud – Ed SheeranThere hasn’t been a split since 2016. I don’t count Bruno Mars because that’s just another form of the Academy’s laziness. Some of these sweeps were deserved though.

Song Written for Visual Media: Beautiful GhostsDecember 4, 2020 at 1:29 pm #1203894734Cardigan is the best written song in that category. It should and will win.
The Box and everything I wanted are in the same category.
December 4, 2020 at 2:00 pm #1203894796Get real! “Cardigan” is NOT the best written song nominated in Song of the Year. YUCK!

Coincidentally, in the past few years, the only ceremonies in which all GF winners were different were in the years when Taylor Swift won Album of the Year (2010 & 2016).
*2010: Taylor (AOTY), Beyoncé (SOTY) Kings of Leon (ROTY) & Zac Brown Band (BNA) – (25% each).
– 2011: Lady Antebellum (SOTY & ROTY) – (50%)
– 2012: Adele (AOTY, SOTY & ROTY) – (75%)
– 2013: Fun (SOTY & BNA) – (50%)
– 2014: Daft Punk (AOTY & ROTY) – (50%)
– 2015: Sam Smith (SOTY, ROTY & BNA) – (75%)
*2016: Taylor (AOTY), Ed Sheeran (SOTY), Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars (ROTY) & Meghan Trainor (BNA) – (25% each).
– 2017: Adele (AOTY, SOTY & ROTY) – (75%)
– 2018: Bruno Mars (AOTY, SOTY & ROTY) – (75%)
– 2019: Childish Gambino (SOTY & ROTY) – (50%)
– 2020: Billie Eilish (AOTY, SOTY, ROTY & BNA) – (100%)It may have been just a coincidence, but it is something that we must take into account.
