As much as HDD is right to call them out, I also get a sense of contempt and righteousness on their part from being so completely certain he would sweep the nominations and then being so publicly (and catastrophically) wrong.

I remember a similar reaction from them when Billboard’s chart numbers on a particular release differed greatly to theirs. They don’t like being wrong.

It was reported that there is a small number of voters in the first round of voting. This explains the WTF picks like Justin Bieber and Un Dia and The Weeknd/Post Malone snub in Pop categories. I think nominations don’t matter as much as we think. The nominees are always WTF while the winners are very reasonable and easy to predict. I still think Dua’s support in the whole Academy is not that big and that she is not that competitive and may lose everything.

Honestly…Dua’s album was made in writing camps with different producers and then put together by her and she made some changes with other songwriters. She doesn’t deserve AOTY and I think that the voters will see that she is one of the biggest label-pushed fabricated artists out there. It’s the hard truth. Dua is very nice and a good person but she’s nothing more than a hit-after-hit machine for her label that spends milions of money for her promo.

Future nostalgia is the finest pure pop album after 1989 imo. Dua deserves AOTY.
