The award season in general has been moved back by 2 months, Golden Globes, Oscars, Brits etc. So, Grammys being moved is not that terrible. It is just most of the discussion for this season feels kinda old and it was obviously a poor pre-management plan for the original date. At least Brits 2021 May date was announced a year ago, because Jan and Feb are problematic months with covid-19.

Shape of You was definitely a better performance than Million Reasons lol. Please.

It’s a much bigger song yes, but it’s definitely not a better performance than Million Reasons and especially not Praying when you take account the background and the lyricism in that song.

Shape Of You is carried by a super catchy beat. Take it out and you’ve got nothing left in the song.

That’s a really subjective take. Looking at the numbers, hype and popularity … million reasons doesn’t stand a chance against it. It’s arguably the biggest hit last decade.

And good for it? Not everything has to be some sort of lyrical/melodic masterpiece always. Some songs are just cute catchy bops and that’s ok.

I started by saying “it’s a much bigger song”, of course. But we were talking about which is the better performance.

If we’re talking about Performance (including lyricism, vocal performance etc), I think Praying is #1 and MR is #2.

And the take-away is that voters do not care about vocal performance or lyrics. Generally popularity trumps those two factors.

Yeah, the point is that voters don’t really care about the “performance” part of it (performance as in vocals, not chart performance).

Well this thread has been kinda dead this month. We haven’t even gotten 10 pages so far in January… I’m wondering how bad February will be…

The hype for the Grammys is long gone. It was foolish to move it that far in the future, and the ratings will reflect that.

The hype will be there in march too. Just wait.

The announcement of Taylor Swift and Adele attending the Grammys after 4+ years will bring hype to the show.  Especially, the comeback of Adele is the most anticipated music event of the coming months.

some fairly reliable insiders have stated beyoncé is on an adele’s album. if true and the grammys can get a performance from them both together, there would be hype. otherwise there will be nothing outside of stan twitter and us

you/we all are always so wrong predicting stuff related to grammys. Its very brave of you being confident about no hype about this year’s grammys. Only twitter ari and jb fans are this confident.
