AOTY

1. folklore – Taylor Swift
2. Fetch the Bolt Cutters – Fiona Apple
3. Fine Line – Harry Styles
4. After Hours – The Weeknd
5. Hollywood’s Bleeding – Post Malone
6. Gaslighter – The Chicks
7. Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial – Roddy Ricch
8. SUGA – Megan Thee Stallion

ALTS:

10. Future Nostalgia – Dua Lipa
10. Ungodly Hour – Chloe X Halle
11. RTJ4 – Run the Jewels
12. The Highwomen – The Highwomen
13. Over It – Summer Walker
14. Jaime – Brittany Howard
15. Hot Pink – Doja Cat
16. Women in Music Pt. III – HAIM
17. Punisher – Phoebe Bridgers
18. The Slow Rush – Tame Impala
19. Magdalene – FKA Twigs

Megan thee Stallion is being overestimated. SUGA probably won’t even get in Best Rap Album. Her only safe bet is Savage in Rap Song, Rap Performance and Best New Artist. Anything else will be deemed an over performance (even though i have her getting in R/SOTY) .Her missing Rap nods last year makes me feel like she won’t get in unless she’s undeniable. Her type of Rap (much like Cardi and Nicki) they need to have big hits and heavily acclaimed albums to make it in. Rap voters seem to be tougher on females. Even though she deserves to get in before someone like Run the Jewels.

The “Fever” snub last year still hurts.

Megan does have a huge hit with “Savage,” though. She did not have that with Fever.

i mean, we actually had some pop albums that got nominated without relying on huge hits. there’s some that come to mind that failed to score a top 10 hit:

• norman fucking rockwell!
• melodrama
• the blessed unrest
• continuum
• chaos and creation in the backyard
• come away with me
• you’re the one
• ingénue
• diva
• the rhythm of the saints
• graceland

Fever had Rap hits that ruled the clubs for a full year though. Who doesn’t know:

Simon Says
Cash Shit
Hood Rat Shit
Ratchet

If anything she should’ve been a shoo-in for Rap Album last year that’s still her best body of work. It definitely deserved to be in the lineup over Dreamville and Cordae. But better late than never she’ll get her nods this year. And maybe her first win.

One or more of the following popular acts are being underestimated and may land the nomination(s): Bad Bunny, YHLQMDLG BTS, Map of the Soul: 7 The Chicks, Gaslighter Chloe x Halle, Ungodly Hour Dua Lipa, Future Nostalgia Harry Styles, Fine Line Lady Gaga, Chromatica Megan Thee Stallion, Suga Post Malone, Hollywood’s Bleeding I could see a case where some of these contenders miss their respective fields but still manage to sneak in AOTY.

sadly I think Chromatica might make it

Last year Goldderby users only correctly predicted 4 AOTY nominees and Father of The Bride was a “Dark Horse” with 68/1 odds.

I hope the committee goes to the Goldderby, see the top predictions and be like “let’s surprise these bitches”

LOL. But seriously father of the bride was one of the best nominations to come from the Grammys in ages

ETA: much like FTBC, FOTB was an album that pushed its genre to the limit. And that’s why it deserved not only the nom, but also the win.

ETAno.2: now that I think about it, HAIM’s new album might fit the bill and get the spot that FOTB got last year. An alternative, pop/rock album produced by indie darlings.

I mean they’ve won Alt. Album twice and been nommed for AOTY. But I do believe that Harmony Hall deserved a SOTY nomination…I would take BAD GUY out of contention and put them in.

and while folklore didn’t have much longevity one single topped the charts, and two album tracks were 4 and 6 on B100 soooo0
