I had the last message, I’ll repost it here:

Yes, HB is bigger than FL, but to say FL isn’t big enough is so odd. What about these streaming numbers seem embarrassing? I’m so confused. You don’t have to think he’s making into AOTY but downplaying the success of an album doesn’t make any sense. Harry is absolutely a player in the AOTY field this time around.

    Watermelon Sugar – 799,161,829
    Adore You – 603,129,314
    Lights Up – 380,804,521
    Falling – 295,426,010
    Golden – 121,998,628
    Cherry – 107,650,007
    Sunflower, Vol. 6 – 97,377,715
To Be So Lonely – 85,046,017
    She – 82,439,113
    Fine Line – 77,741,689
    Canyon Moon – 58,789,568
Treat People With Kindness – 49,937,109

Highest streamed album track: 121,998,628 (not even sure if this counts as an album track but let’s pretend it does)
Post has had 6 different tracks pass this out. So yes his numbers, like every artist who isn’t Drake or Ed Sheeran, are embarrassing compared to Post.
He is totally happening in AOTY. Hearing someone say an album is more consumed because it sells more vinyls is stupid though

! The claim in this post is disputed

Harry in AOTY would definitely shake up the popularity race between Taylor and Abel. Post or Dua also in the race would kill any chances of a pop artist winning. There must be a clear favorite for a pop album to win in a lineup filled with other pop albums. For example, Adele beating out non-factor pop albums in AOTY.

Hollywood’s Bleeding: 17 tracks with 7 features (one of which is on a movie soundtrack). This is how you get album tracks to 200m streams and pure sales. Post has also had the GP interest long before this album came out.

Fine Line: 12 tracks with 0 features. He wasn’t being taken seriously by the GP before this album and got half the tracks to 100m+ streams on his own (so far, less than a year after release).

Nah it won’t kill their chances. Abel, for example, appeals to R&B and Hip-Hop voters while Taylor appeals to Country/Alt/Rock/Americana voters. It would hurt them but they have enough cross-genre appeal to overcome that imo.

Harry and Post have crossed over to Rock/Alternative audiences. They will certainly throw a wrench in this so-called “two-way” race. And Taylor’s not getting many Rock/Alternative votes. Not if Fiona and/or Brittany Howard are nominated.

2/3 of the album tracks with 200m are solo.

I don’t really see what you’re trying to prove with the GP interest thing. Like yeah the GP being interested in Post is why his albums do well?

Below are the spotify streams for the major commercial pop albums of this year. If I missed an album let me know and I will edit this post to include it.

    Post Malone, Hollywood’s Bleeding – 6,790,053,662
The Weeknd, After Hours – 3,173,430,676
Harry Styles, Fine Line – 2,759,501,520
Dua Lipa, Future Nostalgia – 2,485,641,546
    Halsey, Manic – 2,465,022,494
    BTS, Map of the Soul:7* – 2,089,711,694
    Justin Bieber, Changes – 1,731,750,984
    Selena Gomez, Rare – 1,411,271,608
    Taylor Swift, Folklore – 1,108,931,070
    Lady Gaga, Chromatica – 1,101,256,633

*Chartmasters lists 7 and Persona separately so I added in the Persona songs on 7 manually.

**Chartmasters was used for this data and it’s super slow, so I have no idea what the convo will be like by the time I post this. Like, annoyingly slow.

The point is that Harry has done more relative to what he has to work with (shorter album, no features, no huge GP support).

I never discredited Post, that’s what you tried to make it seem like.

Hollywood’s Bleeding is the biggest era and the most consumed album of the year. Plain and simple.

If it’s not the kind of era the Grammys care about then it’s irrelevant. And I don’t see him on many people’s predictions.

Okay? Posts album is still more consumed.

If album consumption is an important metric in AOTY nominations, specifically when it comes to pop, then the only lock is Post Malone.

    See statistics above.
