I don’t think Morgan Wallen will get hurt by this considering he’s a country megastar right now with 4 #1 hits. He’ll get enough votes from the country voters for him get nominated. Out of all of the country contenders this year for BNA, his name definitely stands out the most for country music.
Best New Artist Predictions:
1. Doja Cat
2. Phoebe Bridgers
3. Morgan Wallen
4. Megan Thee Stallion
5. Rina Sawayama
6. Summer Walker
7. Ingrid Andress

Honey, Best New Artist is NOT meant to predict successful artists in the future. It’s designed to honor prominent acts of the eligibility year. Duh!October 8, 2020 at 8:41 pm #1203767963
I personally don’t see Rosalia and BP being similar.
Singer who produces and writes much of her own music, with a smash hit critically acclaimed album killing it on latin radio, with latin grammys, collabs with some of the biggest latin artists, and many american award show performances =/= Korean band that hasn’t written and produced more than one song and doesn’t even win major awards in Korea.

Is BLACKPINK even elegible? That feels like category fraud to me, although not as much so as if BTS were.

Honey, Pop Smoke has never been nominated for a Grammy. Plus, he gained prominence this eligibility period. He should be eligible for Best New Artist.October 9, 2020 at 8:38 pm #1203769460
BP won’t get a nomination before BTS. BTS have better press, better numbers, more relevancy, are promoting like crazy and have been for years, have more acclaim and more “narrative” than Blackpink who, like another user said, have yet to win any major award in Korea. If the Grammys decide to honor a Kpop group with a nomination and break this wall it will be (and frankly should be) BTS first. If yall say BTS have a long shot, BP have an even smaller one. And no, they aren’t BTS female counterparts, the way both groups market themselves is entirely different, that would be like saying Dua Lipa is Ed Sheeran’s female counterpart because they are both british soloists of the pop genre</p>October 9, 2020 at 11:24 pm #1203769574
BTS (we guess) will get a nomination in Pop Duo Group
BP could get a nom on BNA, which barrier to entry isn’t as competitive, but would still make a point
I remember Con Altura, was it from her album?
ps: d*ja’s new song sucksOctober 10, 2020 at 2:37 am #1203769654
ps: d*ja’s new song sucks
Why do you keep censoring Doja’s name and hating on her when you literally have Roddy Ricch in your pfp?? Wasn’t he arrested for domestic violence
ROTY: Savage Remix
BNA: Phoebe BridgersOctober 10, 2020 at 5:52 am #1203769747
that would be like saying Dua Lipa is Ed Sheeran’s female counterpart because they are both british soloists of the pop genre<
Comparing Dua Lipa to Blackpink really shows how bad their chances are at getting into BNA.
BP could actually get into BNA and army needs to realize this. No ones saying they’re a lock but they’re one of the more successful mainstream picks of the year (Doja has been tanking post Say So and Morgan/Gabby both have one hit) and maybe they’ll feel it’s time to reward a Korean artist.
I also hate to break it to you, but only stan twitter feels like BTS need to be nominated before Blackpink
Give Ariana DeBose an oscarOctober 10, 2020 at 6:04 am #1203769783
Is Lewis Capaldi not eligible? I know he was nominated for SOTY last year, but I didn’t think that would exclude him from BNA this year (think Meghan Trainor).
1) Megan Thee Stallion
2) Doja Cat
3) Gabby Barrett
4) Morgan Wallen
5) Phoebe Bridgers
6) Alec Benjamin
7) Summer Walker
8) Pop Smoke
I know Alec Benjamin is a long shot, but I would LOVE to see him earn a nomination. His debut album was incredible and he definitely deserves the recognition. Not now
