September 5, 2020 at 12:02 pm #1203687999I couldn’t find a thread for Best Electronic so thought I’d create one since that’s what I listen to most after pop

September 5, 2020 at 5:17 pm #1203688463Would be so dope for Grimes to finally get a nom
By the way, remix albums aren’t eligible so that takes out Dua.

If Grimes gets nominated, I can bet you she’s going to win. Although personally she doesn’t belong there, either in alternative or pop vocal album.
Kelly Owens new project grew on me throughout the year but I don’t think it will win.
Against All Logic is really slept on around here, it’s so amazing.

Grimes FOR THE WIN !

BEST DANCE RECORDING
1. Tame Impala – Breathe Deeper
2. Surf Mesa feat. Emilee – ily (i love you)
3. Flume feat. Toro y Moi – The Difference
3. Jack Garratt – Better
4. Goodboys & Medusa feat. Beck Hill – Lose ControlBEST DANCE/ELECTRONIC ALBUM

5. Toki Monsta – Oasis NocturnoSeptember 5, 2020 at 8:15 pm #12036886361. Tame Impala – Breathe Deeper
I feel like Breathe Deeper isn’t a dance-recording but personally I feel like that’s wishful thinking. I feel like they are going to give to specifically producer who doesn’t sing on the track like Caribou, Nicolas Jaar, or Disclosure honestly. But who knows they come liking to LCD Soundsystem, so why not Tame Impala.
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 5, 2020 at 8:42 pm #1203688671If they nominated LCD and Gorrillaz then I wouldn’t rule Tame Impala out. But we’ll see when submissions are out.

September 5, 2020 at 10:24 pm #1203688732Grimes FOR THE WIN !
grimes is well deserving of a Grammy at some point, but Miss Anthropocene was OK at best, especially in comparison to Art Angels and Visions

September 5, 2020 at 10:42 pm #1203688762I have no experience predicting in the genre but looking over the nominations and wins for album since 2011 it looks like most of the noms go to veteran acts (10+ yrs in the industry) mixed with 1 or 2 mainstream artists/djs and the occasional left-field critical acclaim pick. The veteran act typically wins unless the mainstream pick had a very very good year. The category is less welcoming to newcomers than other genres. Please correct me if I’m wrong
Album predictions:
Chemical Brothers – Surrender
Caribou – Suddenly
Disclosure – Energy
Arca – KiCk i
Little Dragon – New Me, Same Us—————-
Mura Masa – RYC
TokiMonsta – Oasis Nocturno
Nicholas Jaar – CenizasChemical Brothers won last year so it’s between Caribou and Disclosure for me

4. Goodboys & Medusa feat. Becky Hill – Lose ControlIt would be iconic and hilarious if a 2nd alum of The Voice UK got a Grammy nod before any of the US alum did.
(Matt Henry got nominated for Musical Theatre album as a principal soloist (Lola) in the West End production of Kinky Boots)
