Hopefully Gaga and Dua can snatch the nominations, so this category can be interesting for the very first time since pop artists were banned

That would be borderline fraud and a bad look when they tried to make the category for dance artists and not pop divas trying to win an easy Grammy over less-known but deserving acts.

These are my predictions: we all know that Disclosure, Mura Masa, and Caribou will get nominated.

unfortunately Caribou’s album somehow ended up in Alternative Album…

This is not a boring category, at least not as boring as some others. There’s always at least one or two interesting nominees there. I hope it sticks with zero popstars and actual electronic music.

Cassadee Pope (The Voice US Season 3 Winner) was nominated in Country Duo/Group performance for Think of You, and Koryn Hawthorne (The Voice US Season 5 Finalist) was nominated in a gospel category in either 2018 or 2019

Would Good Faith by Madeon count for this year since it was released at the end of last year? If so he would have a pretty good chance at getting nominated like how Porter Robinson got nominated for Ghost Voices as Virtual Self.

Also Four Tet – Sixteen Oceans would also have a good shot here too and maybe if they nominate Burial he’ll get that veteran spot that The Chemical Brothers usually get but for now I think Suddenly by Caribou is the favourite.

I actually hope they actually put pop stars. Both Alice and Hallucinate are very well produced dance tracks. And also, they really suck at picking the “electronic picks”. SOPHIE was definitely snubbed in 2019, and Caribou & Jaime xx deserved in 2016 against Diplo. I am honestly shocked they gave Aphex Twin a Grammy in 2015 for Syro.

Aphex Twin most likely got the veteran choice(Like Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, KraftWerk etc) because he did a lot for ambient music in the 80s and 90s so they felt like they had to give it to him for his contribution to the genre

And rightly so! Also, thanks for mentioning Burial and Four Tet. That’s exactly the kind of nominees I’m hoping for.

    Grimes – Miss Anthropocene maybe?

The Grammy’s have never been into Grimes even though she has consistently delivered.

I saw the Grammys submissions thread and it said Miss Anthropocene by Grimes was submitted for alternative album so I guess it’ll be competing there instead

What are some major contenders we need submissions from? I’ll ask Natalie.

    So far I imagine:
    -Disclosure
    -Flume
    -Mura Masa
    -Caribou
    -Toki Monsta
    -Sofi Tukker
    -Four Tet
    -Arca
    -Jessie Ware

I feel like some people are obvious like Surf Mesa.

Grimes only submissiom in the dance field is 4ÆM for Dance Recording. The album is in alternative.

Agree. This category has been so much better since the pop acts have only been allowed to compete as a featured vocalists.

If they do go for a “pop” act this year, I hope it’s Pet Shop Boys. “Hotspot” was their best album in years, their an actual electronic band so it wouldn’t be fraud in the vein of Gaga or Dua. “Dreamland” is also an absolute gem of track and would be also be a nice first nomination for Years & Years.

    Two birds, one stone.
