    I think Dua is more vulnerable in album categories than songs, for me she is lock in pop solo and roty

    My prediction :

    • folklore – Taylor Swift
    • Future Nostalgia – Dua Lipa
    • Fine Line – Harry Styles
    • Hollywood’s Bleeding – Post Malone
    • Chromatica – Lady Gaga

    Seriously tho who do you think get upper hand over Dula Peep, 88 on Metacritic with huge hit, Don’t Start Now?

    • Manic – Halsey
    • Rare – Selena Gomez
    • MOTS:7 – BTS
    • K Bye for Now (SWT Live) – Ariana Grande
    • Smile – Katy Perry
    • Changes – Justin Bieber

    Currently digging :

    * Joji - Nectar
    * Sufjan Steven - The Ascension
    * Marsicans - Ursa Major
    * Holly Humberstone - Falling Asleep At The Wheel
    * Rich Brian - 1999

    Am I honestly the only one who could see The Weeknd getting moved out of SOTY? His era is not bigger than the thank u, next era which we all thought was a lock for across the board noms. I still have him in of course but it’s not like there’s no precedent for him being left out.

    FYC:

    AOTY: folklore, Gaslighter, Kid Krow, Ungodly Hour, Punisher, SAWAYAMA, Future Nostalgia, Manic

    It can happen. We have seen before when Can’t Feel My Face missed SOTY.

    • 2020 – Billie, Lizzo, H.E.R.
    • 2019 – Kendrick Lamar, Brandi Carlile, Drake
    • 2018 – Bruno Mars, Jay-Z
    • 2017 – Adele, Beyonce
    • 2016 – Taylor Swift
    • 2015 – Sam Smith
    • 2014 – NA
    • 2013 – Fun
    • 2012 – Adele, Bruno Mars
    • 2011 – Lady A, Eminem
    • 2010 – Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Lady Gaga

    All these artists got nominated for all major categories (AOTY, ROTY, SOTY) in their respective year. For upcoming event, I can see only The Weeknd, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, The Chicks and probably Chloe & Halle, Roddy Ricch have potential to snatch all three nominations.

    For the record, The Weeknd missed SOTY nomination in 2016 with bigger era than After Hours so there’s probability he will get same fate. Miss Taylor never failed to get extra nomination in general field if her album made it as AOTY nominee ;

    • Fearless; You Belong With Me (ROTY, SOTY)
    • Red; WANEGBT (ROTY)
    • 1989; Shake It Off, Blank Space (ROTY, SOTY)

    If Blinding Lights, Don’t Start Now, and Circles misses SOTY, then SOTY should likely go to cardigan or empowering songs such as I Can’t Breathe, etc.

    They aren’t all going to miss, that’s for sure.

    I think Post Malone is more likely to get the thank u, next treatment, but either are theoretically possible. I definitely wouldn’t predict a “Blinding Lights” snub in SOTY, but I thought “thank u, next” was a sure thing as well so who knows.

    Blinding Lights, Don’t Start Now and Circles are stronger candidate in ROTY so I’m not surprise if they miss SOTY. It is well known that some ‘flops’ can get into SOTY with acclaim ticket or empowering songs with great message. Here’s some songs that are under my radar :

    • cardigan/exile – Taylor Swift feat. Bon Iver
    • Shameika or whatever song she submits – Fiona Apple
    • Do It – Chloe & Halle
    • Gaslighter – The Chicks
    • Redesigning Women – The Highwomen
    • The Bigger Picture – Lil Baby
    • I Can’t Breathe – H.E.R.
    • Lockdown – Anderson Paak
    • What’ve I Done to Help – Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit feat. Michael Kiwanuka

    Honey, The Weeknd will easily get in Song of the Year.  There are always a couple of hits that make it into that category.

    Dua Lipa will definitely be in Pop Album. I have her in Pop Solo, AOTY, Pop Album, ROTY, & SOTY.

    The only thing is if she uses DSN for Best Dance Rec. I think that would her “Pop Solo” nomination and someone else could take that spot kinda … similar to how Madonna got Dance Recording for “Ray Of Light” over Pop Vocal Performance but still shows up in Pop Vocal Album.

    Ideally I would say she’ll be BDR, Pop Album, ROTY, SOTY. She could miss AOTY and BMV but i hope she’ll make it to AOTY.

    It doesn’t really matter if his overall era is less huge (which I don’t even think is true tbh), Blinding Lights is such a massive song, far bigger than anything else The Weeknd has ever done, that there’s no way it misses SOTY.

    I have Blinding Lights in SOTY but I will not reject possibility that it can be snubbed in that category, Abel has missed two times already (Can’t Feel My Face and Starboy)
