    Based on Metacritic, album by black artists/POCs that received higher score or tied with folklore (88, 27 reviews);

    • Moses Sumney – grae (90, 17 reviews)
    • RTJ – RTJ 4 (89, 26 reviews)
    • Rina Sawayama – Sawayama (89, 14 reviews)
    • Michael Kiwanuka – Kiwanuka (89, 21 reviews)
    • Gil Scott-Heron – We’re New Again – A Reimagining By Makaya McCraven (89, 10 reviews)
    • Brittany Howard – Jaime (88, 19 reviews)
    • FKA Twigs – MAGDALENE (88, 28 reviews)
    • Yves Tumor – Heaven to A Tortured Mind (88, 18 reviews)
    • Freddie Gibbs – Alfredo (88, 9 reviews)

Most of these artists are flopping or having poor Grammy record. The only one that comes close to Taylor’s relevancy is Brittany so if NARAS wanted to avoid rewarding white artist then, Jaime is the obvious and deserving winner.

    For you consideration :

Album of the year : evermore
Record of the year : willow
Song of the year : willow
Best pop vocal album : evermore
Best pop solo performance : willow
Best pop duo/group performance : no body no crime (feat. HAIM)

I wouldn’t leave out Run the Jewels though. They could be a surprise in such a year.

    <p style=”text-align: left;”>If I were Harry Styles:</p>
Fine Line: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album

”Watermelon Sugar”: Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance

“Adore You”: Song of the Year, Best Music Video

Question: Are all artists really deserving of a Best Music Video nomination? Take for instance something like The Chemical Brothers past BMV nod. They weren’t in the video themselves but were still nominated. BMV rules need to change imo.

I think Harry Styles won’t receive a single nomination in the GF. His narrative isn’t exactly what they usually go for, I guess, but the success of a couple singles could pave the way for nomination(s) in the pop field.

He’s not getting into AOTY this year. Based on the success of his two singles, he would definitely deserve a SOTY or ROTY nomination, what with Watermelon Sugar hitting seven consecutive weeks atop the pop radio chart, tying Blinding Lights. Plus it hit #1 on Hot 100 and will likely hit 1B streams on Spotify before the year is through. Absolutely massive. And Adore You did great too.

But it might not be his year. I still think there’s some resistance to him among some voters because of where he came from, and this is a year where they will feel the need to uplift talent of color. These things may relegate him to the pop categories, as you say. I think BPVA is his safest bet for a nomination, but it is not unthinkable to me that he could be shut out like he was with his previous era (submitting in rock notwithstanding.)

RTJ have released three albums prior to RTJ4, all of them are highly acclaim but not a single Grammy nomination for them even in rap field. The only nomination they got was for a soundtrack.

Kiwanuka is been a fixture of the BRITs & Mercury Awards for nearly a decade now. I wonder if this being his first album post-Big Little Lies/Cold Little Heart could help him get an overdue nom in at least a genre category.

    Dear Emmys Voters

Television has never been better and it’s a pandemic year.

    Be bold, not boring.

it should go to the director

I see the MV category as a Record of the Year sort of thing: the principal actors behind the execution should get it. Producers, Director, Artist. If the artist was completely uninvolved (a rarity nowadays) then they shouldn’t get one, but it’d be up to them.

I don’t believe an artist should get an award just when they appear in the video. The idea might be theirs, they might’ve been instrumental in its production and quality, etc. Plus, you know, they recorded the song.

I think Harry will be similar to Ariana last year, getting a good amount of nominations but coming home empty-handed.

In a perfect world, If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know) by The 1975 would be nominated for Record of the Year.

I believe he’ll get nods similar to her Sweetener era. Pop Album and maybe Pop Solo.

I can totally see this too.

At best, it’ll be like thank u, next; at worst, it’ll be like Sweetener. But he won’t win like Sweetener.
