Get real! Folklore is NOT a masterpiece. BARF!

Get Real! Folklore will be nominated for AOTY (and so will Future Nostalgia)

If Folklore were to win (which I don’t think will happen) yes there might be initially backlash but the media cannot objectively state it was a bad album and that it wasn’t deserving. They cant because honest to god it’s a great album. They really can only validly argue why another album was MORE worthy. The bs articles can complain she is white or she has already won twice but objectively they cannot say Folklore is anything less than excellent especially w/ the album reviews to back it up. I saw at least 3 (maybe more) articles calling it her best work. We already know the story with no political album out by black artists that other users mentioned.

btw, I love “Future Nostalgia”. “Pretty Please” and “Levitating” are my faves but it doesn’t quite go to where Taylor did in folklore. I honestly feel bad for her because she would have definitely won something had Taylor not released.

I just checked Metacritic and folklore has a user score of 9.2 compared to Future Nostalgia’s 8.8? Not sure if that’s what you meant but if so then it’s wrong. It’s also an irrelevant stat but we’ll ignore that.

NEVER USE METACRITIC USER SCORES! AOTY.org does a better job at assessing quality for music lovers and not stans. Dua has a 78 and Taylor has a 77, but again it’s not far off from each other.

    Fiona needs to sweep

Album of the Year, Record of the Year (For Her), Song of the Year (Ladies). And also a retroactive Best New Artist to make up for snubbing her back in 1996 or whatever.

I wish they would go 100% not mainstream this year

Jason’s album is more “country” to me. But I guess it lacks the cliche twang of basic country.

best albums of the year: Fetch The Bolt Cutters, Set My Heart On Fire Immediately, Superstar, What’s Your Pleasure, Run The Jewels 4, St Cloud, Grae, Nothing As The Ideal, The Descendants

How are the Scammys going to always non-top 10 songs but never award them? Thoughts?

It was only within the last 10 years or so they started to skew towards Billboard hits. Most of ’00s was non-top 10 songs.

Why can’t Pop Vocal Album be called Pop Album? I doubt there’s a Pop Instrumental Album category unless it’s the Contemporary Instrumental Album category they’re referring to.

Contemporary Instrumental Album used to be Pop Instrumental Album until 2015 when it was renamed and moved from the Pop field to the Contemporary Instrumental Music field. Best Pop Vocal Album was just Best Pop Album from 1995-2000 when the instrumental one was introduced in 2001. I suppose the reason they kept the “Vocal” term in the name is because the instrumental album still has the word “pop” in its description despite it being in a different field now. Plus, it’s been 2 decades since the “Vocal” was added and they just wanna keep it the same now I guess.
