So, The Weeknd performed “In Your Eyes” as well, finally a non-“Blinding Lights” performance since ever. He’s doing an absolutely great campaign by not overexposing himself – he would never do that LOL – but also not missing any good opportunity. I like to see it.

Genuinely surprised at the 7th week at #1 for folklore. Swift knows how to play the game and does it well.

It seems like her campaign so far is just the album itself continuing to succeed and be in conversation because of that, which is probably a good approach for this particular project (in comparison to the hit-voters-over-the-head campaigns for her earlier work).

Still have her at #2 in my personal odds for AOTY.

    #1: After Hours
    #2: Folklore
    #3: Fetch the Bolt Cutters
#4: Fine Line / Future Nostalgia

Taylor sent out cardigans and vinyl copies of folklore to all the voters. Her power! 😭

    Source.

With the upcoming releases of Year-end List, I expect albums like folklore, After Hours, Fetch the Bolt Cutters, Future Nostalgia, RTJ4 will be benefitting the most. And we will see what albums will remain fresh on critics’ mind or forgotten towards the end of the year.

I think it’ll at least crack the top 30. I was however surprised by how mediocre it did in the mid-year rankings. But people do overestimate MC scores and their correlation to best-of lists.

best albums of 2020: Fetch The Bolt Cutters, Set My Heart On Fire Immediately, What’s Your Pleasure, Run The Jewels 4, St Cloud, Grae, The Descendants of Cain

I think Future Nostalgia will show up in the top 20 but will miss the top 10.

I don’t see how it doesn’t end up in at least the top 15 though.

Critics just got on the train the first week because it is something different, especially for pop. But it’s not an album that ages well so its positions on lists won’t be even close to the MC score.

I just checked and it already appeared in a few lists (first half of the year). Looks like it will end up in the top 10.

I liked SAWAYAMA, the rock influences are cool.
The album itself is not very consistent though.
