Uh, well, all things being equal, the charts are technically an indicator of what the GP is interested in.

Streaming numbers and radio are much better metrics for what the GP is interested in or is exposed to. This is 2020, people who aren’t already fans of an artist do not generally buy albums anymore. They stream. They listen to radio in the car or at work.

Taylor was always a great album artist, often selling upwards of a million copies in her first week, which is amazing. She has a big fan base, in the US especially. But folklore has done nothing to reach people who weren’t already fans of her. A large part of the GP won’t even have heard of it at all, what with it having produced no radio hits.

The only thing charts reflect is how good your manage team is.

I lowkey lost faith in the charts until “Old Town Road” happened.

Puhlease, streaming and radio are rigged as well. Playlist exposure and radio payola exist

taylor is not gonna win because of her chart performance. they know she’s taylor swift and will always sell and she isn’t selling drastically different than Lover and Reputation which they ignored.

Folklore’s highly relying on promotional strategies, as many as Dynamite. That’s a fact.

And it’s not like album plummeting out of Top 10 and I gave reason that we have two debut albums meanwhile the other two have immense tracks which clearly benefitted by streaming

Let’s stick to facts. Folklore dropping 45% in units has NOTHING to do with the amount of tracks pop smoke is releasing. Not to mention, Folklores streaming numbers are abysmal. Cardigan, the most streamed track daily, is currently being outstreamed by the flop song from After Hours In Your Eyes.

It’s #1 because of signed copies and bundles. Not because of gp interest. You are allowed to like Taylor and realize that people have been much more interested in Pop Smoke for the past 6 weeks.

Even if that is true, streaming and radio are still the main ways in which the GP consumes music, so I fail to see the relevance of your post.

And if payola-ing radio and rigging streaming is so easy, then I wonder why one of the biggest artists in the world with one of the biggest budgets hasn’t capitalized on it these past couple of months.

There’s no denial that it’s still the biggest release of the year, but there’s lots of gimmicks involved.

Did you went out on a survey to check if Folklore reached non-fans or not ?

I was never a fan of Swift, but folklore made me to respect her more than ever and get into her discography.

Folklore is a streaming success, apart from sales success. Just imagine releasing that kind of album and having album tracks with 100m streams on spotify that fast. People actually heard the whole album and not the spammed radio singles, as in many other cases.

Ok. But this is good to market/push the song. Post-release singles rarely do anything and this is a good way to launch it/make it fresh. And we haven’t heard it either, maybe he served?

That photo screams FUN to me.

It just seems like someone at Warner REALLY hates levitating and they are just trying to ruin it in all the ways they can. 💀💀

Folklore’s “longevity” is so forced, that I can’t imagine how hard it will fall when she stops these stunts, because this can’t go on forever.

It’s hilarious, that when Billboard announced they will stop considering bundles, she push them even harder than ever, exploitiong her fans just like BTS is doing. Will she even let the music speak for itself like it’s been claimed numerous times for her? A FRAUD.
