I don’t get the aversion to Kyoto. Phoebe was always a long shot in the general categories so why wouldn’t she submit one of most popular, most accessible singles from the album, one that she’s performed several times on various shows and that more voters have probably heard? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Just because it’s ‘bouncy’ doesn’t mean it’s not emotional—it has some of the most emotional lyrics on the record and the daughter singing about her dad theme is probably relatable to many of the voters. The juxtaposition of upbeat music and raw lyrics has been successful in the past, too.

Fiona deserves to be in the category and win, too.

She has performed “I Know The End” almost as much as “Kyoto” actually. I love every song on Punisher besides “Moon Song” so I’m not too upset. I know she is a long shot. I am hoping for BNA, BMV, AltAlb and EngAlb, but I only expect BNA.

Compare your spotify listening with me at musictaste.space (code: charismatic-celery-439)! Which one of y'all just compared with me and scored 79? That's insanely high...

True, though the high-profile performances at Kimmel and Colbert were both of Kyoto. I love I Know the End, but I never thought of it as accessible enough for the general field.

And I love Moon Song. It’s one of the songs I sing the loudest. Especially the verse where she disses Eric Clapton and fights about John Lennon. My least played song may be Graceland Too but I love them all.

I don’t mind Phoebe submitting Kyoto (though I would’ve liked I Know The End), but I don’t get why she didn’t submit to Rock Song and Rock Performance.

I think sometimes artists don’t want to submit too broadly because it can backfire but Phoebe definitely should have submitted in the rock song categories I think. I guess now her submissions are more focused at least. BNA and alternative album first and foremost. And this really is an album era for her so it makes a little bit of sense to not dilute it with too many song submissions. Or maybe I’m just rationalizing it.
