I’m being gutsy and predicting Selena here. I think Mattman & Robin, Julia Michaels and them have enough goodwill to their name to get a SOTY nod. And the song went #1 too.

Mattman & Robin only have one Grammy for producing 1989 (no other nominations either) and Julia Michaels only has 2 nominations where she was a committee placement; I’m not sure how those credits give it the edge

Why is every thread underrestimating Gaga?

ROM is a dark horse GF contender. It would have a likelier shot of getting in ROTY than SOTY.

This really has not been Gaga’s year commercially so her chances of getting in any of the general field categories are slim

Honey, “Rain On Me” has been completely forgotten since July.  It is NOT happening in Record of the Year/Song of the Year.  Plus, Lady Gaga has had a shitastic year.

ROM will go recurrent this week on Hot100, after charting 20 weeks, because it is below top50. It could be ROTY filler, but I wouldn’t bet a horse on that.

    FYC Grammys 2021

    Folklore, best-selling album of 2020, 7 weeks #1 on BB200

Highly acclaimed by all critics with 88/100 metascore

I have Fiona getting in all three: ROTY, SOTY and AOTY. I feel more confident in the latter two than the first one. Also, she can be rewarded with a songwriting nomination in Rock Song, with a possible win.

Fiona will get the nominations that Vampire Weeknd got last year.

For being under-rewarded. They work with a lot of Pop stars and at some point they’ll get their dues. Maybe this will be a nod that can satisfy all parties.
