The BRP needs to make sure that happens and leave Blinding Lights out of the SOTY category. It’s not like it deserves it.

    it deserves to be nominated

Get real! “Adore You” is NOT happening in Record of the Year and/or Song of the Year.

Yes it will. At least one of them, and has a shot at both.

    it deserves to be nominated

I mean deserved is definitely subjective but I don’t think I agree with you. Blinding Lights is an amazing song because of its production and Abel’s vocal performance. Its songwriting isn’t very noteworthy. I hope the committee blocks it so that something with stronger songwriting (subjectively) can win, like I Can’t Breathe or cardigan or Shamieka.

    You meant *objectively.

But yeah it’s not just about the lyrics it’s also the melody. I can hum the tune to blinding lights and everyone knows it. It’s a well crafted song and would be a solid winner. I can’t Breathe would be as well. So either option would be ideal.

Blinding Lights is not a bad song lyrically. Sure it’s not the best of the year, but again a majority of the better written songs are indie picks. Cardigan is not even the best written song this year, in my humble opinion. If there would be a SOTY winner that focuses on songwriting and composition, it would be Shameika, I Can’t Breathe,  Lockdown, or walkin in the snow

I have heard a bunch of Radio songs in my day (I think we all have haha), and I haven’t see a song that has the replay value of Blinding Lights. (There are other songs like this btw, I’m just saying it does it well the most) Every time I hear it, it sounds still new.

I have the same experience but only because it’s so forgettable.

Honey, you ladies are acting as if Song of the Year has ever been about actual lyricism.  If “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “That’s What I Like” can win SOTY, then “Blinding Lights” is also worthy.

Blinding lights will win. Last year that poorly written bad guy won against self written masterpiece “LOVER” or NFR proves that blinding lights will have no problem in winning.

Get real!  The lyrics to “Lover” are NOT a masterpiece.  BARF!  Swifties are the most delusional creatures on this planet.

How? Imagine thinking these SELFWRITTEN lyrics arent excellent..
“Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand?
With every guitar string scar on my hand
I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover
My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue
All’s well that ends well to end up with you
Swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover
And you’ll save all your dirtiest jokes for me
And at every table, I’ll save you a seat, lover”

worry about yourself being delusional instead.. or better yet, shut your mouth.. your biased opinions are so annoying..💀
