After the CMAs (and Soul Train nominees), I’m very confident that “The Bones”, “Blinding Lights” and “I Can’t Breathe” will be the repeats in the GF, showing up in both ROTY and SOTY. I don’t see anything other than that. In my predictions, “Don’t Start Now” and “Circles” – and “Shameika”, maybe? – are showing up in ROTY only. I have “Adore You” in SOTY only, as a safe songwriting choice kinda like “In My Blood” and “Lover”. You could argue that it can show up in both categories given its radio success, but SOTY seems more fitting for this type of song.

Lover’s situation feels different as they nominated for two reasons. One to have a consolation award for not making Album, and two, it was self written with I bet they liked. It’s also just one of her better songs in general

Get real!  “Adore You” and “Savage (Remix)” are NOT happening in Record of the Year nor is “If the World Was Ending” happening in Song of the Year.

“Savage (Remix)” could definitely show up in ROTY. It was an impactful viral hit that topped Billboard. Megan also had a noteworthy year. The BRP may want to reflect that in the GF.

Savage Remix will probably get in. They need rap songs, especially this year, and the song was a MOMENT. Plus Megan is having a banner year, amd having Beyoncé with her definitely helps.

    “Savage” deserves a ROTY nomination.

Get real!  “Savage (Remix)” was NOT a moment.  That song was one of many one-week #1’s this year that basically came and went.

Actually, “Savage” was one of the few #1 songs this year that managed to stay in the top 10 for many weeks.

SOTY might be the most unpredictable GF category for me. I wouldn’t call any contender a lock (except maybe H.E.R).

I feel like Savage is stronger in Song than Record. Don’t know why.

How certain are we about cardigan cause I think it’s quite likely in SOTY and very unlikely to happen in ROTY

I think it’s only in ROTY if she misses AOTY and even then it’s very unlikely

“Blinding Lights” has now spent 39 weeks in the Hot 100’s top 10. It ties “Circles” as the longest running top 10 hit in history. Is there any possibility that Blinding Lights takes ROTY, while Circles takes SOTY?

yes I would love to see that and someone else talking aoty to spread the wealth but that prob won’t happen

Can “Stay High” by Brittany Howard enter RoTY and SoTY?

I’m gonna root for it and not remove from my list whatever it ends with.
