I’m not sure about that. I think “U.F.O.F.” is more alternative (something between folk and rock) than “Two Hands”, but both are great albums. Maybe their chances of winning are better in the rock field.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 15, 2020 at 4:35 pm #1203647686Green Day, Father of All… Better not get nowhere near rock album. Just such a disappointment of an album. Like we all know I love the band but this was just brutal
ReplyCopy URLAugust 20, 2020 at 5:33 am #1203656314Imploding the Mirage by The Killers could be a strong contender for Best Rock Album. Hopefully Green Day won’t get nominated.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 20, 2020 at 5:37 am #1203656319I don’t see how Green Day gets in. The aggressively bad reviews and poor fan reception is the only noise that album made.

August 27, 2020 at 1:23 pm #1203670644“Jaime” is a great album, but I don’t think it’s a Rock Album. I don’t find many rock sounds on it. There are blues, soul, folk, R&B…

ReplyCopy URLAugust 28, 2020 at 7:01 am #1203671630Would love to see The 1975 pop up in Rock Song or Performance. I’m not counting on ‘Notes’ getting an Best Alternative Album nomination- if they missed with ‘A Brief Inquiry’, which is their most critically praised album, then I doubt they will be able to pull it off this year.
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 1, 2020 at 12:36 pm #1203680385I think you have to take Rock/Metal predictions with a pinch of salt because they are extremely unpredictable most of the time and likely wrong.
Last year absolutely nobody predicted Bones UK, Rival Sons, I Prevail, Karen O/Danger Mouse, Death Angel, Candlemass and Killswitch Engage to get nominated and they did.
The year before that was Bring Me the Horizon with the shock nomination for Mantra.

I totally agree. They had been the most unpredictable the last years. However, a lot of people are predicting too many “alternative” artists for rock song/performance. And one thing I’ve noticed is that in the rock field, they tend to go for rock songs that lean more towards blues, hard rock, folk/rock, more guitar-driven as oppose to synth-driven psychedelic rock. So expect to see more Brittany Howard, The Killers, maybe even Ozzy Osbourne rather than The 1975, Fiona Apple, Tame Impala.
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 2, 2020 at 2:06 pm #1203682448Alternative doesn’t have Song/Performance categories, so Alternative acts usually go to rock for track nominations (see: Vampire Weekend’s Harmony Hall last year).
