Is Alanis (the album and Reasons I drink) really a contender ? I like the song a lot, I think her best single in agesssss. And I’m a fan since jagged little pill who stopped paying attention to her music but I still have a soft spot for her.
I don’t see Alanis as a contender and I love Jagged Little Pill, maybe like 10th/11th for her new album, she hasn’t been nominated since 2001, the albums got fine reviews but I just think there are a few too many contenders over her for both Rock/Alternative.

Monsoon compiled a long list of contnders in this field. It was really great. What happened? 🙁September 13, 2020 at 4:14 am #1203702806guys, what happened to Monsoon’s posts in this thread? No idea, might have said something bad in a different forum or something and then had all their messages wiped.

Considering we’ve seen appearences by Blink 182 and The Cranberries despite they were snubbed during their peak of their careers. I wouldn’t rule out 7x Grammy winner Alanis Morissette.
Remember last year she released the 25th edition of Jagged Little Pill, performed with Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift so she might be in the radar.
The album “Such Pretty Forks in the Road” is actually really good, it does remind you of Jagged Little Pill. So who knows? I’d personally nominate it lol
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 13, 2020 at 12:10 pm #1203703615Plus it doesn’t help the whole “Rock is supposedly dead” vibe if they keep nominating a deceased performer rather than new performers.
If the Cranberries won Rock Perf in 2020, then it would’ve the 4th consecutive year that a deceased artist won that award.

Your Rock performance category I could easily see happening, at least 4 of them anyway, as for Rock song, I would say 4 of your choices are quite likely, not really convinced that Black Veil Brides would be the Grammys cup of tea though, their albums have never really been critical darlings either, they would be in Rock, definitely not in Metal though.
Black Pumas for Colors is one that I could see happening but don’t want to because I don’t think it really is a Rock song.
As for Metal, I actually think your spoilers lineup is more likely than your actual lineup since most of them have been nominated before, I just cannot see a scenario where 3 female lead artists/bands get nominated when there has never been a female singer/lead band nominated ever in this category. not even one let alone 3.
If one got nominated out of the three, I would say Lacuna Coil because if there was a female lead band/artist in that category, I would imagine it would come from a veteran band/singer than a newcomer. I mean I would love to see it but I don’t see it.

Rina Sawayana might not be accepted into Metal, might just be moved to rock. Poppy is the most likely female contender in metal. But then again, I just don’t believe artists like Rina or Poppy would ever get enough support to be nominated in any category.

Only four women were nominated for best metal performance: Bonnie Buitrago and Ruyter Suys (Nashville Pussy), Reba Meyers (Code Orange) and Sean Yseult (White Zombie). None of them won.
