The Steps directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and Danielle Haim I think could be a serious contender for BMV. I think Harry Styles’ Adore You is also being submitted so that’s a possibility.November 13, 2020 at 9:19 am #1203834099
Honey, there are threads for this stuff.November 13, 2020 at 9:20 am #1203834104

that video is nothing special. PTA has been directing videos forever some with Fiona and has never been nominated.November 13, 2020 at 10:53 am #1203834406
Get real! “Don’t Call Me Angel” is NOT happening in Best Song Written for Visual Media. That song came and went a year ago.November 13, 2020 at 11:15 am #1203834473
I would love to see FKA twigs get a nomination for “sad day”. She got a cool shoutout for “cellophane” last year, although she ended up losing to a much weaker video (Old Town Road) that was commercially successful.
They tend to go for the big ones (see “Bad Blood” over “Alright” etc) so if Abel gets in, he could easily win.November 13, 2020 at 11:19 am #1203834485
I just really hope that they recognize FKA twigs “Sad Day” in short form music video. It is stunning and beautiful.
I think a frontrunner for Song Written for Visual Media is “All For Us” by Labrinth for Euphoria.November 13, 2020 at 1:54 pm #1203834956

Agreed. I love HAIM, but the video for the steps doesn’t really feel different enough (from other videos that have had a similar concept) to warrant a nomination.
“If I Could Change Your Mind,” “Want You Back,” and “The Wire” had better chances at nominations in their respective years. And even those would’ve been uphill battles.
I will say, though, that I’ve never understood why they’ve never been nominated for any VMAs. Their videos may not be as flashy as some of the stuff that gets nominated for BMV, but they typically excel on some technical front (e.g., choreography, direction, cinematography)…November 13, 2020 at 3:39 pm #1203835428
