He had no issues getting nominations in previous years with weaker records. So I don’t think it’s an issue of breakthrough to be perfectly honest.
I’m sure Abel saw all over the internet that he was THE frontrunner to win and to have that hyped up all year to you not getting ANY nominations is realistically soul-crushing. He has the right to be mad, but the Grammys have always been corrupt just like most awards shows.

They got nommed for KID A and IN RAINBOWS tho, so they haven’t been completely snubbed. I do think they should’ve won AOTY at least once, but what you gonna do.
I like Taylor but they clearly set her up to win. No hate as it’s not her fault but there are deserving artists who could have made AOTY over those random wtf nominations in AOTY.

It’s like where are these votes coming from? These are “obscure” artists and not just when it comes to people who only pay attention to mainstream music. Neither has received much press. Neither project is that acclaimed. They have no substantial nominations anywhere else (that also includes HAIM).
The shit just don’t add up beyond shit going down in the general academy but especially in the BRP.
Jacob Collier is nominated in R&B twice, and Black Pumas has an American Roots nomination. Someone said that Jacob Collier is 4/4, which says enough about his support.
