Okay, that is not accurate. You don’t have to be nominated or even eligible to be nominated to perform

You would still be wrong, many artists have performed at the ceremony the year before their music was eligible as promotion including Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, Demi Lovato, and even Adele.

It is true performing doesn’t have to with nominations, Miley Cyrus performed in 2018 with Elton John, despite not being nominated.

in order to perform, you need to be a current or previous nominee.

Miley (2014 nominee) and Demi (2016 and 2018) were able to perform because they are previous nominees.

Not always. Demi Lovato and Camila Cabello performed a year before their first noms, as part of tributes/joint performances. (I think Demi’s performance was part of the reason she got that nom)

Adele literally performed in 2016 to perform All I Ask. She was not eligible yet and just went to promote. Madonna performed in 2015 to promote Living for Love and doesn’t have a nomination since 2010. Sam Smith performed in 2018 when he had eligible material but failed to get a nom. There are no such rules as only nominees can perform.

If Adele is on an album cycle by next year’s ceremony and she’s on hype be sure the producers won’t deny her a slot.

Most of times Grammys tend to ask people to collab to save time for many artists to perform.

They always have a bunch of artists performing together to get as many people in for the show as possible. So look for a lot of collab stages. Only the biggest artists or Grammy darlings get to perform by themselves usually.
