Pls why 8 noms in Pop

I was wondering about that too. That’s the only category that ever goes over the standard 6 spots these days (there were 7 nominees in 2019 IIRC). Maybe they had a 3-way tie for 6th once they DQed “Levitating (Remix)”?? *shrugs*

(Though Dua should’ve competed in Best Dance anyway, but for some reason they don’t do that anymore…)

    Here’s my predictions:

VOTY: WAP – Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion
SOTY: Dynamite – BTS (Drivers Licence, Levitating & Leave The Door Open are all more worthy winners but these are fan-voted and we all know what happens with their stans)
Artist of the Year: Ariana Grande
    Best New Artist: Olivia Rodrigo
Push Performance of the Year: Drivers Licence – Olivia Rodrigo
Best Collaboration: WAP – Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion (or Kiss Me More)
Best Pop: Butter – BTS (Positions or good 4 u could also win)
Best Hip-Hop: WAP – Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion
Best R&B: Leave The Door Open – Silk Sonic (or Good Days)
Best Rock: Shame Shame – Foo Fighters
Best Alternative: Transparent Soul – Willow ft. Travis Barker (or My Ex’s Best Friend)
Best Latin: Lo Vas A Olvidar – Billie Eilish & Rosalía (or Dakiti)
Best K-Pop: Ice Cream – Blackpink & Selena Gomez (or Butter)
Video For Good: MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) – Lil Nas X (or Your Power)

As for the professional categories, my guess is:
Best Direction: Willow – Taylor Swift
Best Cinematography: Holy – Justin Bieber ft. Chance The Rapper (or Brown Skin Girl)
Best Art Direction: 911 – Lady Gaga (or MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)
Best Visual Effects: You Right – Doja Cat & The Weeknd
Best Choreography: 34+35 – Ariana Grande
Best Editing: Prisoner – Miley Cyrus ft. Dua Lipa

Honestly, I would’ve cut out Harry and Shawn’s videos, and boom, Best Pop is back to normal. Harry because although TPWK has a great message, its already nominated in a category celebrating that message, and also it didn’t do very well on the US charts. (#118) Shawn because Wonder had great visuals, but again, even though the song did decent, the Wonder era was brought down by piss-poor marketing due to a change of executives at his record label, Island. (If anything, I think Wonder should’ve gotten a few professional category noms)

I just realized Demi Lovato continues her streak with her Video for Good nomination this year lol. She’s been nominated at least once every year since 2012.

She’ll continue her losing streak too.

How is Bad Habits VOTY worthy? It’s one of the most generic music videos I’ve ever seen.
