“Save Your Tears” is NOT getting in both Pop & R&B.

Well, it’s called a shortlist because of the possible categories. Yes, I know it won’t make both, but however, I am considering how some people consider the song as pop and others consider the song as R&B. Which is why I put the song in those categories of possibility, as a way to secure no possible shock if it gets nominated for a genre others consider the song not to be. (At least for me, it’s a pattern I’ve noticed)

    Jaboukie Young-White

That actually makes a lot of sense; he appeals to MTV’s core demo; lives in New York and is already employed by ViaCom.

    Oscars FYC:

"Lamb" – International Feature and all categories

"Summer of Soul" – Picture, Film Editing and Documentary Feature

“The Green Knight” – in all categories

If “Blinding Lights” was undeservedly nominated (and won) in R&B then “Save Your Tears” will do the same.

I will be very upset if “WAP” does not walk away with anything. It definitely is the Video of the Year in this eligibility period.

Billboard just made this article talking about the VMAs ballots which virtually gives us little insight (except maybe that the entried are pretty low numbered).

I think MTV will try to make this year’s show have more news and relevancy in order of a ratings rise.

Also they mention the exclusion of Best Group category which Armys promptly claimed they were boycotting BTS. But tbh this category is always announced later on and MTV only revived few years ago it so BTS would have more wins.

FYC: Memoria and House of Gucci for Best Picture

MTV confirmed Best Group will still be a category.

Very surprised Megan is all over the first round ballots, I would’ve thought Doja Cat would’ve been all over. This gives me hope that Megan has a sweep cause she most definitely deserves it. Still rooting for Meg in VOTY.

With that many entries, Megan is definitely getting in Artist of the Year.

Oof, only 17 eligible videos for Best Rock??? It makes you wonder how they’re differentiating between Rock and Alternative so that there are about 3 times as many videos in the latter (53 entries).

If that’s how it was last year, it’d definitely explain why the Rock category looked like it was plucked straight out of 2005. That list is probably a combination of household-names/veterans and up-and-comers… The veterans are gonna dominate no matter what.

Megan NEEDS to win Artist of the Year that will be history!! And to be quite honest I think she’ll be able to win. 3 Grammys, 4 BET Awards, a successful debut-album, incredible videos, etc.

I saw in a site that the nominations will be announced next Wednesday July 28.

What’s strange is the fact that no one else like Billboard told the day the nominations would be announced.
