Was looking back on my notes and here were my predictions a year ago today for the 2021 Grammys (was very off): Record of the Year

    • “Savage Remix” — Megan Thee Stallion (feat. Beyoncé)
    • “Don’t Start Now” — Dua Lipa
    • “The Box” — Roddy Ricch
    • “Adore You” — Harry Styles
    • “Say So” — Doja Cat
    • “Circles” — Post Malone
    • “Blinding Lights” — The Weeknd
    • “cardigan” — Taylor Swift

    Album of the Year

    • After Hours — The Weeknd
    • Fine Line — Harry Styles
    • Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial — Roddy Ricch
    • Future Nostalgia — Dua Lipa
    • Fetch the Bolt Cutters — Fiona Apple
    • folklore — Taylor Swift
    • Chromatica — Lady Gaga
    • Hollywood’s Bleeding — Post Malone

    Song of the Year

    • “everything i wanted” — Billie Eilish
    • “Don’t Start Now” — Dua Lipa
    • “I Can’t Breathe” — H.E.R.
    • “Adore You” — Harry Styles
    • “Circles” — Post Malone
    • “The Bones” — Maren Morris
    • “Blinding Lights” — The Weeknd
    • “cardigan” — Taylor Swift

    Best New Artist

    • Summer Walker
    • Doja Cat
    • Rina Sawayama
    • Gabby Barrett
    • Megan Thee Stallion
    • Conan Gray
    • BLACKPINK
    • Pop Smoke

To be fair for a lot of these predictions they were most likely in the top 20 at least but were removed  by the BRP. I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted the complete shutout for the Weeknd before nomination day but there was definitely a lot of questionable decisions made by the BRP (just not in the way he implied) last year. Fiona Apple, Harry Styles, Brittany Howard, Roddy for AOTY, (Even maybe Justin…) etc were most likely removed from the GF last year in place of the Black Pumas/Coldplay etc picks.

    Album of the Year:

    Olivia Rodrigo – Sour
Foo Fighters – Medicine at Midnight
Billie Eilish – Happier than Ever
    Drake – Certified Lover Boy
    Lil Nas X – Montero
    Chris Stapleton – Starting Over
Bruce Springsteen – Letter to You
    Jazmine Sullivan – Heaux Tales

    Record of the Year :

    Olivia Rodrigo – Good 4 U
Silk Sonic – Leave the Door Open
Lil Nas X – Montero (Call Me By Your Name)
Foo Fighters – Waiting on a War
Billie Eilish – Happier than Ever
    H.E.R – Fight For You
Justin Bieber f/ Daniel Caesar & Giveon – Peaches
Brandi Carlile – Right on Time

    Song of the Year:

    Olivia Rodrigo – Drivers License
Silk Sonic – Leave the Door Open
Brandi Carlile – Right on Time
Doja Cat f/ SZA – Kiss Me More
Justin Bieber f/ Daniel Caesar & Giveon – Peaches
    H.E.R – Fight For You
Billie Eilish – Happier than Ever
The Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber – Stay

    Best New Artist:

    Olivia Rodrigo
    Rauw Alejandro
    The Kid Laroi
    Saweetie
    Arlo Parks
    Baby Keem
    Morgan Wallen
    Maneskin

I feel like Ms Brandi will make her presence felt again. Yes I’m foolishly expecting a Taylor shutout in the GF this year. Until I see what she has up her sleeves this fall. And I think Jazmine is stronger than H.E.R in Album..

I feel like Kali Uchis may still be nominated in the American Grammys. Maybe Selena Gomez too…

Karol G’s album WILL be in Música Urbana Album. Though Bad Bunny will easily win.

    FYC:

Album of the Year: "star-crossed" by Kacey Musgraves
Record of the Year: "Good Days" by SZA ft. Jacob Collier
Song of the Year: "Good Days" by SZA ft. Jacob Collier
Best Pop Vocal Album: "Positions" by Ariana Grande

Apparently Adele may be releasing this week.

Thursday vs Friday release could make a massive difference for this year’s Grammys…

Have a great day if you see this!

Kali I could see but not Selena, I kind of accepted that Selena Gomez will likely never be nominated for the Grammys years ago though so I could be underestimating her but I would be shocked

Speaking of the Música Urbana Album category, is Latin Pop or Urban Album being renamed to solely pop or will there be two similar categories now? Guess we’ll find out within the next 2 months.

If she releases Midnight London time (which is what I presume would happen) it would be eligible for the Grammys this year because that’s still Thursday Sep 30th Stateside. That’s what happens with the UK acts like Dua, Ed Sheehan and their Thursday night releases.

Seems like a bunch of radio stations have been sent Adele’s new single or at the least been informed about it now, they’re all hinting at it on Twitter. It would be truly iconic if she released on the last day of the eligibility period. Bye Leave the Door Open and Driver’s License’s awards in the GF if so.

I don’t think she’ll surprise drop the whole album this week, but the lead single is definitely possible.

    two separate categories:

    • Latin Pop Album – Camilo, Juanes, Selena Gomez if she was nominated, etc.
    • Música Urbana Album – Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro, Karol G, etc.

Album of the Year: "star-crossed" by Kacey Musgraves
