Chemtrails over the country club (song) is in my top 5 favorite songs released this year. Just love the aesthetic. And video was so original. But i feel like Lana will be snubbed again

Chemtrails is beautiful but yeah it will probably be ignored.

BTW I’ve been on a Melodrama binge and repeat, such a beautiful album. I still wish Solar Power could sneak in somehow, too.

Chemtrails over the Country Club most likely is not happening anywhere but “Chemtrails over the Country Club” might just happen in maybe one category.

Don’t mind me for mentioning a category I haven’t seen much discussion on… I feel like Bo Burnham is going to lose Comedy Album to Dave Chapelle.

Dave is 3/3 in the category, with his wins all being in the past 4 years. While Bo has the acclaim and perhaps the advantage of being the first true comedy album in years, I can see Dave’s immense darling status being enough to upset. He’s probably the most respected comedian alive.

Plus, he just released a new special which is quickly gathering controversy, but getting the support of fellow comedians. I can see them voting for him to show “solidarity” in his right to be provocative as a comedian.

I think Chemtrails is happening becaause Lana is doing a “Evermore operation”, she is releasing a new album the day the first round  voting start, in order to get attention on her. However I think she will get nominated for Best Americana/Alternative album and maybe best country duo for breaking up slowly. Then, Joni Mitchell is credited on the album, and if COTCC win AOTY, Joni will get the award too, and probably a lot of old voters will take this in consideration.

I completely agree. Bo and Inside are arguably his toughest competition in this category he’s ever received, but he’s still Dave Chappelle. It’s a solid album, and he’s probably taking home another Grammy come January.

GoldDerby really needs to update the prediction center. I periodically look at the Top 20 in each category and write them down, and use that as part of analysis for my own predictions (I’m a nerd I know lol) and I noticed several ineligible songs/artists in the Top 20. Examples: WAP in ROTY/SOTY, Starting Over in ROTY/SOTY, Morgan Wallen in BNA

Also does anyone know if the October 9 billboard magazine is the one with Grammy submissions

Edit: Nevermind, Natalie says it’s the October 23 issue

Lana might not make it simply because the committee’s are gone . Pretty sure NFR! was a blue ribbon pick because she didn’t even get a Pop Vocal nomination. Her noms were only GF. I think the nominations committee will place her to compete in Pop as always.

Honestly, she messed up her submissions lol. Submitting the title track instead of Doin’ Time for a few categories was a big mistake on her end.

Maneskin are not happening. their new song sound exactly like their previous one – i wanna be your slave. Beggin cover was released in 2017 so is not eligible. Yes they got their hype but not at that level yet

Beggin’ cover is likely to be eligible in a situation similar to Truth Hurts. It reached commercial prominence only this year.

Maybe a dumb question, but for example, let’s say Planet Her and Montero were both nominated for Album Of The Year.. would Doja then technically have 2 nominations in that category since she’s featured on Montero and the new rules give everyone involved a nomination? Is that how it would work and is it allowed?

    Sorry I’m just wondering lol

yes, and if Positions somehow got some love as well, she’d have 3 nominations.

I personally don’t see any of those albums making it, but under the new rules, Doja could potentially pull a Pharrell Williams in 2015.

Is WAP eligible for a ROTY nom? I heard some say that it wasn’t. Just wanted to clarify.
