I think the academy would award Leave The Door Open in ROTY/SOTY before they award Happier Than Ever

“All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” and “champagne problems” 🤩

I will literally die if she plays Ivy

The GD odds currently have Levitating and WAP top 8 in ROTY, Damage top 8 in SOTY and Clairo top 8 in BNA.

None are on the ballot so that’s really gonna hurt this year’s accuracy score lmao

I don’t know what’s sadder, GoldDerby not changing it, or people still predicting it

Doja just got a fairly surprising soul train AOTY nod, so make of that what you will.

I’m here for anyone but Billie. I’m so sick of her. Don’t know why the academy has a such a hard on for her. She’s mediocre at Best! Chris Stapleton or Doja for AOTY!!

    Interesting.

never said it was. I would give it to SOUR or HEAUX TALES. But we have seen this film before and they do love Billie so much. Now if we were based off:

personal taste: promises ~ floating points

overdue win: love for sale ~ lady Gaga & Tony Bennett

cultural impact: Montero ~ Lil Nas X

overall relevancy/cultural impact/commercial acclaim: SOUR ~ Olivia Rodrigo

critical acclaim: Call Me If You Get Lost ~ Tyler the Creator

Biggest billboard album: Dangerous ~ Morgan Wallen

Happier Than Ever doesn’t check any of these boxes. But Olivia does. Also the importance of Olivia should not be overstated. If you want a separate analysis on that just let me know

Happier Than Ever is the most acclaimed mainstream pop album lmao, how does it not check off that box?

Much respect to Doja & Dua for having actually successful hits and albums with neither toping hot100/hot200.

I strongly believe the numbers from their next eras would reflect the increased public interest they’ve gradually gained. Like Sweetner-to-TUN.

owkey planet her really deserves an AOTY nomination. regardless of whether it’s been helped by tik tok or not the GP  has been bopping to songs from Planet HER all year. I’d say after Olivia, Doja has had the best 2021 in terms of commercial success.

you’re right i mean if between Tyler and her, she would lose, he has more critical acclaim. But in the Grammys eyes critical acclaim points don’t matter for some parts. Even if Happier Than Ever is more acclaim, it’s not that much more acclaimed that Sour and Montero as pop albums.

2020: After Hours ~ The Weeknd

    2017: Melodrama ~ Lorde
    2016: Blonde ~ Frank Ocean
2015: To Pimp A Butterfly ~ Kendrick Lamar
2014: To Be Kind ~ Swans
2013: Random Access Memories ~ Daft Punk
2012: The Money Store ~ Death Grips

Doja Cat’s Soul Train Music nominations weren’t surprising. If you follow trends, then you’ll know they tend to nominate whichever R&B/Pop Artist is dominating at the moment. The Weeknd is another example. She also received nods from BET & AMAs in the R&B/Hip-Hop categories. So I’m not sure why it’s unexpected for some. Her winning over more traditional acts would be shocking.
