everyday that goes by, I get the feeling that Leave The Door Open may not win ROTY or SOTY… I really do think olivia or billie will be sweeping for the most part

In a perfect world… Cardi & Megan would accept for “WAP”

seems like it died out pretty fast. Happier than ever could sneak a win i wouldn’t be mad lmao. Even though it didn’t do numbers on the charts, it’s pretty solid

If you were a grammys voter, what 3 genres + 10 categories would you choose?

Looking at everything, I would have to snub pop. I think I’d choose:

    Rock (3/4)

    • Best Rock Performance
    • Best Rock Song
    • Best Rock Album

    Alternative (1/1)

    • Best Alternative Music Album

    American Roots (6/8)

    • Best American Roots Performance
    • Best American Roots Song
    • Best Americana Album
    • Best Bluegrass Album
    • Best Folk Album
    • Best Regional Roots Music Album

    I think I would do:

    Pop – 3/4
    Best Pop Solo Performance
    Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
    Best Pop Vocal Album

    R&B – 3/5
    Best R&B Performance
    Best R&B Song
    Best R&B Album

    Latin – 3/4
    Best Música Urbana Album
    Best Latin Pop Album
Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album

    Best Country Duo/Group Performance

    Hmm today i’d vote for

    Pop Solo Perf
    Pop Duo/Group Perf
    Trad Pop Album
    Pop Vocal Album

    Dance Recording
    Dance Album

    Music Video
    Music Film

Well, only 8 categories but i guess thats what limiting to 3 fields do to you. I’d probably vote for Alternative, R&B and Visual Media if expanded. But it’s possible I’d change my categories if I saw someone I really wanted to vote in a different genre.

This got me thinking that fields like Alternative and New Age have only one category. So how many voters are willing to “sacrifice” one of their allowed fields there? Idk, we might get some real weird results probably coming for an even smaller amount of votes than what we usually have.

I am wondering about the same thing, too!

wait, how is his album eligible? It’s got 13 songs on it and 8 of them were a part of an EP nominated last year. Doesn’t that not meant the requirement they set after Black Pumas got into AOTY with a deluxe version of an album already released and submitted the year before because it had just enough bonus tracks?

It’s not about Track number. It’s about playing time.

The original EP had a playing time of 24 minutes and 10 seconds. The “album” has a playing time of 36 Minutes and 50 seconds.

If we were to do the math :

    Original EP – 1,450 seconds
    Deluxe EP – 2,210 seconds

    2,210 – 1450 = 760 seconds of newly recorded material.

760/1450 = 52.4% of newly recorded material which puts it over the 51% threshold to be eligible.

shouldn’t it be 760/2210 since that’s the album length?

Rolling Stone released an article saying it was eligible a few days ago though so you might be right? Idk, I’m not entirely sure.

I thought that way at first which is why I was uncertain why it was being predicted by Variety, Rolling Stone etc. I thought it was because it’s now a Compilation (?) that it would have different rules but it’s just really weird. We won’t know for sure until we see it on the ballots.

Leave the Door Open is still charting on the Hot 100 while drivers license left the chart months ago

Is this a new rule? Voters can only vote in 3 genres and 10 genre categories?
