can someone explain me what is a committee? and what is going to change without them on this edition lol..

The committee had the say over who got the nominations and who didn’t if they didn’t like the way the voters voted, The Weeknd getting snubbed was the committee’s doing

if Tony and Gaga get in no one else’s wining imo, doja and sza aren’t popular with the voters, I think we’ll get a clear idea of who’s winning after the noms are announced

I agree with that as well. I am biased towards Tony and Gaga though.

The Weeknd didn’t get blocked from Pop Categories though because Pop never had a committee to begin with. Its voted solely on a popular vote . It’s simply bc he didn’t enough votes there .

I would say he was blocked by the committee in the general fields categories  or he simply didn’t make it to the top 20.

How did he not have enough votes when he was everywhere in 2020? Is it a favoritism thing?

lol people here seem to hate olivia more than billie and taylor at least, i have a feeling people don’t take her music seriously because she’s a 18-year-old woman of color bet what she will deliver a more mature album on her sophomore record and people will still shit on her, if she looked like billie y’all would respect sour it’s not even worse than wwafa

this is not stan twitter,  oh my god…

I think he was always under R&B before so I’m assuming pop voters didn’t think to vote for him. Also he is near the end of the alphabet so he kind of got screwed. I don’t really know about General Field.

honestly the idea of the weeknd not getting enough votes on the pop field seems a little bit odd to me. seriously the biggest song and one of the biggest albums of 2020 did not attract the voters? weird

The user said ‘not enough votes’ based on the evidence we can get from grammy voters in the nominations list. There are no reviewing committees that decide nominations in pop categories, it’s just pure votes. The Weekend was the artist of the year and had one of the biggest songs of the century but somehow there were more voters that picked Yummy than Blinding Lights for Pop Solo. Bizarre to think but it happened.

The Weeknd also underwhelmed in noms during Starboy era with just a Urban Contemporary Album nod that he ultimately won. HDD said some time ago the nomination phase ends up with very few number of voters cause members don’t even bother to look thru the lists. While winning voting probably has a larger number as it’s easier to check the names. Perhaps if Abel made in nominations even if 5th place he couldve won regardless with a more populist voting during the second round.

cuz he was simply blocked, I’m not about conspiracy theories but you can not convince me he didn’t have enough votes, I would believe the conspiracy theory over that
