Get real!  “Positions” is NOT a big hit.  Pure delusion.  It is a moderate hit at best that will be forgotten by March.

Spill for once. Positions has moderate radio success at best, stop pushing this delulu narrative already.

positions is a big hit, you are absolutely 100% delusional if you think it’s a “moderate radio success at best”

Positions will probably get the nom and maybe a filler ROTY nod if the year ends up weak again but in terms of points it isn’t very strong. For reference, it’s only a bit stronger than YNTCD was during its run (~170 points iirc v. ~210). It’s had the benefit of the charts being weaker. Of course, it’s Ariana and I’m sure she’ll be nominated for it.

If we’re describing Positions as a moderate hit, then these all count as small hits:

These are all grammy nominated, so moderate hit positions will have zero problem getting in!

Nobody’s saying Ariana won’t get in with positions, it’s pretty obvs she’ll get a couple of namecheck noms at least but it’s no ROTY hit sorry.

Why is it no ROTY nom? Because it’s got good radio? If so, when the fuck has that ever mattered?

Positions is a hit, it’s doing well on streams and radio, but we don’t even know if Republic will submit this song for Pop Solo next year.

Everyone here thought they would submit No Tears Left To Cry but they submitted God Is A Woman.
Everyone here thought they would submit Thank U, Next but they submitted 7 Rings.

Like I said, it’s a waste of time to make predictions now (jan 1st), because 34 + 35 can definitely smash throughout the year, making Republic submit this one instead of Positions because it’s going to be the more fresh hit. They can also submit POV if this song becomes a single and it’s successful.

Honey, Ariana Grande fangirls have got to stop being delusional.  “Positions” is NOT happening in Record of the Year and it is certainly NOT a lock in Best Pop Solo Performance.

ROTY is for the biggest hits of the year or a literal cultural moment. Stop deliberately missing the point.

And Positions is currently the 3rd biggest hit of the chart year (below Mood and AIWFCIY, neither of which are eligible) so?

I also think you need to look at the top 10 predictions for non-Christmas songs this week. Every song there is doing half their points from radio, with LNCL and Holy going over 60%. Positions at 50% isn’t some unheard of thing.

About Positions (Song) in ROTY I find it very difficult to happen, it’s a hit but it doesn’t seem to be a Circles level of hit to get a nomination despite being released in the previous year.

She only got a ROTY nomination with the biggest hit of her career, not even in the Sweetener era with 8 spots she appeared in GF, I think the same will happen with Positions (Album/Era).
