This morgan guy is spending a 6th week at #1? https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9529137/morgan-wallen-dangerous-tops-billboard-200-sixth-week
He’s a couple of weeks away from matching Folklore. This is america, I guess… Say the n word and ignorant fucks will reward you with buying more copies of your album.
The Grammy’s better not nominate him anywhere. I would’ve been certain they wouldn’t, but after they nominated Dr. Luke this year, nothing will surprise me anymore.
February 21, 2021 at 1:32 pm #1204053194well, despite carrie being huge, for some reason they’ve never given her a country album nom, so the country bloc does its own thing.

February 21, 2021 at 2:05 pm #1204053229ariana is the most likely there i think, closely followed by taylor then megan a bit behind. megan’s album is huge and well received with (already grammy nominated and possibly soon to be grammy winning) hits but the anti-rap bias is strong in AOTY as we know, they even ignored roddy last year
February 21, 2021 at 2:07 pm #1204053233i have ariana slightly ahead because she’s milking positions a bit more than evermore, however if folklore underperforms in march and taylor maintains relevance throughout the year into the voting period with the re-recordings then i’d have her ahead of ariana for sure

I think a folklore underperformance wouldn’t actually bode well for evermore’s chances, especially if exile also looses to Rain On Me.
folklore is the bigger & more acclaimed album, was more recent by the time of voting, had more longevity and had the quarantine narrative too. If she can’t win with such a strong combo of factors, it’ll be even harder for evermore, which has basically been abandoned as an era, to pull it off.
Remember that unlike other award shows, past losses and “snubs” don’t really matter for Grammy winners. If they didn’t vote for folklore, which is basically a stronger project in every regard, they’re also not gonna vote for evermore.

Speaking of how weird country can be, remember how “Not Ready to Make Nice” literally won Song of the Year but wasn’t even nominated for Country Song?

I think we all know why they didn’t nominate it in the Country field💀

February 21, 2021 at 10:12 pm #1204053778Dream on, delusional Swifties! Evermore is NOT happening at the 2022 Grammy Awards. It will be completely forgotten by then.

If Morgan doesn’t get nominated for anything, such a punishment in my opinion would be sufficient, but I was thinking about it earlier this week and I remembered something that my most favorite singer once said about songwriters, James Otto that is. James said that songwriters don’t get any money until their material is on the radio. What I don’t know is if they continue to get money for the songs even when the songs are no longer new, like does James still get anything now whenever his songs are on the radio? I have no idea. If yes, then those who wrote Morgan’s radio material are who took the bigger fall when his material got yanked from the radio stations. In other words, I hope that his songs are reinstated soon so that the writers are no longer penalized for something that they had absolutely nothing to do with.
God bless you and them and James and Morgan and always!!!
Holly
P.S. All this talk about certain words being dropped, how many singers out there are still seeing their work being purchased even though they drop every swear word that there is known to man? More than all of our fingers and toes put together times ten can count. If I’m right, why can’t Morgan have himself a slice of the never ending bliss?
Go here to check out my most favorite singer James Otto!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiU81KIRZ_QFebruary 21, 2021 at 10:29 pm #1204053790um, his album’s #1 for 6 weeks. songwriters get paid for streaming and sales royalties so they’re not hurting just b/c he’s not being played by the radio.
also “swear words” are not the same as “words used to uphold the systematic oppression and murderous system which destroyed lives for centuries.”
