um, his album’s #1 for 6 weeks. songwriters get paid for streaming and sales royalties so they’re not hurting just b/c he’s not being played by the radio.

also “swear words” are not the same as “words used to uphold the systematic oppression and murderous system which destroyed lives for centuries.”

To me, one “bad” word is no different compared to another. They are all bad and yet, the singers are never stopped from making their fortunes. If anything, the bad language may only be what makes their “stock” rise. (shaking my head)

    God bless you always!!!

    Holly

P.S. On our days of judgement, there is a good chance that one wrong may not be considered worse compared to another.

Now I know we aren’t comparing racial slurs to words that mean sex and poop…

Cancel culture is getting way out of hand. The n word should be banned once and for all for everyone, even black people shouldn’t use it. It’s disgusting how rappers use it in their songs, desensitizing the actual meaning of the word for their audience, that includes people from all races and ages, especially young people.

^^^ To me, the only people who should be banned are those who think that they are the ONLY people who can get away with doing whatever they want.

Holly … you’re a whole white woman. You’re in no position to forgive someone for a racial slur that isn’t directed at you and doesn’t hold a history of racism and violence towards your race. In other words, you don’t get to decide if Morgan Wallen should be forgiven for the n word or not. Religion’s got nothing to with this, stop using it to be a racism apologist.

For the record, you are talking to a girl who was given the nickname “Casper” due to how well she can’t tan and so, no, I may not be as severe of a victim compared to other people on this planet, but I do have some idea of what its like to be given a raw deal because of my skin color…if its still considered a raw deal when the dust has finally settled…..(going off to listen to my favorites who have long been forgotten for the most part)

    God bless you two always!!!

    Holly

P.S. By the way, those who stuck me with that name have been forgiven, if its even something to apologize for in the first place. I don’t know. Ever since I first heard the story concerning this song, all that I can do now is bust out laughing. (smiles)

Additionally, if you are any race, please stop saying fag or gay as a slur, especially if you are black. Same thing for gay people, why you gotta say the hard n? I don’t understand how you can be gay and racist, or black or homophobic. Like please make it make sense. We share differing experiences, but we both understand how using a derogatory term means to people’s wellbeing.

that was a side note, but Olivia posted this video about her favorite songs as she turned 18. She mentioned Bob Dylan, Taylor Swift(twice), Phoebe Bridgers, Billie Eilish, Gwen Stefani, Fiona Apple, and Carole King. Damn that’s a list.

^^^ For the record, I don’t use the slang words because I have never understood why they are out there in the first place when there were already words out there for them.

    God bless you always!!!

    Holly

P.S. Take the word “disabled” for example. That is what I go with when so many others go with the word “crippled” instead.

No because there is no way someone can actually be comparing being called Casper to the n word I-

Holly, you are not systematically oppressed and the word ‘Casper’ is not representative of centuries of horrendous mistreatment towards your ancestors that has caused you to be placed at an automatic disadvantage in life.

^^^ Wow, I’ve been jumped all over by those of you here who do not like where I stand on certain issues and I am not systematically oppressed? Do keep in mind that those who you say are systematically oppressed may no longer fall into such a category since they were years ago set free to do all of the things that we white people have been free to do from the very beginning. In other words, anyone who tries to stop them may only be setting their own selves up for a nosedive. Remember the former county clerk from the state of Kentucky who made headlines in 2015 which was just a year after same gender marriages were given the green light? Kim Davis was her name.

God bless you and her always!!!

Systematic Racism has more to do with disproportionately with POC, who experience the highest poverty levels, lower education performances and resources, environmental and medical aid (as shown with whats happening with Texas), pay wages, legal issues, etc. It’s not as simple as well Black people are freed, we are all equal. Let me mind you they change name from slave to sharecropper. My grandmother picked cotton as a child. Our lives are not detracted from the remittances of slavery, especially since any person of any race is able to say the hard N and get away with it.

I was going to say that this has nothing to do with the Grammys,  but yet again, we would have had AOTY winners Kendrick Lamar and Beyoncé already.

Stop telling black people what they can or can’t use. That is none of your bussiness.

Thats the problem. You always like to control everything. Let black rappers say what they want in their lyrics.

These are the points that I’ve been trying to make from the very beginning. People can not be stopped from putting out there what they want no matter what their race is.

    God bless you always!!!

    Holly

P.S. I do have to disagree though about the business area of the issue. Do keep in mind that plenty of things are put out there even when they are not even asked about from another person in the first place and so therefore, are certain things really the matter of being anyone else’s business or not when so many people volunteer them certain things anyways?
