Get real! “Leave the Door Open” is NOT the frontrunner in Record of the Year and/or Song of the Year.

Yes it is. 2021 is weak so far. It will easily win at this point.

For some reason I don’t understand how Megan is #1 in the odds for AOTY

Good News is one of the biggest rap albums of the eligibility period, it has acclaim, plus the nomination would be perfect after her almost sweep (3 out of 4). Her winning BNA also helps to the cause because it looks like the rap field likes her and supports her. Unless CB2 overshadows Good News I see Megan taking the rap spot in AOTY

I don’t see Kacey Musgraves getting into AOTY again. She’ll definitely get into Country categories, but Chris Stapleton is definitely going to be the country nom in AOTY.

Agree. Unless the album exceeds Golden Hour in acclaim i don’t see her getting nominated. So yeah, Chris is the frontrunner.

There doesn’t need to be a country nom though. There was none this year and none last year.

Unless CB2 overshadows Good News I see Megan taking the rap spot in AOTY

Both can get in. 2019 had 3 rap albums so it’s not like this is impossible. Cardis already got 2 #1 hits on her album. The BRP have been obsessed with BNA winners for the past 2 years (Bon Iver, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa). I think Megans win alone makes an AOTY nomination very plausible.

    FYC
    AOTY: Blue Weekend-Wolf Alice
    ROTY/SOTY: WAP-Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion
    Best Drama Actress: Mj Rodriguez

I didn’t realize that Starting Over has been charting for 8 months. It also finally reached #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and nearly re-peaked at #25 on the Hot 100.

I know last year we overestimated Maren Morris’ The Bones, but The Middle, which is a bigger hit, had already been nominated.

Starting Over is sure to win Country Solo Performance and possibly Country Song at this point, but I think this is the year Chris Stapleton will be awarded with a SOTY nomination.

AOTY nods are just for the greats such as Sturgill, Kacey and him, but even the most average country singers have made it to SOTY once as some sort of “career achievement”. I said singers because they didn’t get the songwriting nomination.

tl; dr: Congrats on your SOTY (and possibly AOTY again) nomination(s), Chris Stapleton

    FYC:

Record of the Year: Hit Different by SZA ft. Pharrell Williams & co.
Song of the Year: Good Days by SZA ft. Jacob Collier

I think Positions in pop vocal is weak now, pov is not taking off and 34+35 has fallen off. She should do something in late summer for her campaign.

Ariana should make Motive a single for the summer and make it her Pop Duo submission. She released POV at the wrong time.

I think Billie slated for July 2021 is the most anticipated for pop vocal, unless Adele appears.
