Maybe I’m so crazy but I think right now Bad Bunny’s Dakiti is winning ROTY. This is actually deliciously produced song and Bad Bunny is the moment. It could be a move into latin people. If some latin artist can win ROTY in the next 10 years it is probably Benito and Dakiti is the perfect choice.

Get real!  Bad Bunny is NOT winning Record of the Year.  Completely delusional.

You’re crazy. “Despacito”, a 16 week event #1, which reignited the Latin genre in the Anglosphere, lost ROTY to a song that peaked #4.

“I Like It”, another smash #1, by the it girl of that year, only got one (1) nomination and lost ROTY.

“Dakiti” probably won’t even make top 20…

GF committee needs to be kept imo. I’m fine with all the genre ones going though.

I think their main issue is transparency. They should do what the Oscars do and announce shortlists for the GF. The entire top 20. So it’s clear to everyone what made it in and what didn’t.

    Rant time

    WHAT THE FUCK?

No panels is the reason why Yummy is a grammy nominated song. Panels are the reason why albums like Melodrama, Women In Music Part III, Norman Fucking Rockwell have gotten nominated. I also think panels have been great for Best New Artist. This year for example, I discovered Chika from the grammys and I’m really glad about that because her music is incredible.

If they’re seriously doing this because a grown man had a tamper tantrum then that’s ludicrous. I also would like to point out again that this grown man bombed on categories decided purely by popular vote.

The only change that I want is that the BRP should have to reveal top 20. Sure it makes nomination day less fun, but that actually does makes sense for transparency sake.

TLDR; they should keep the panels instead of giving into a grown man behaving like a child.

Academy members have no taste, and probably don’t listen to 10% of the things the vote on

but idk it works for others awards tho
maybe they should do like the oscars, elect 3 members from each “branch” and vote on the top 20 or something

It’s not only about The Weeknd, the panels can definetely feel a little corrupt at times. Keeping Janelle Monae out to hand the win easily to The Carters in 2019. Having Roddy Ricch not nominated for rap album also made 0 sense this year. Also felt like it was just to give Nas an easier legacy win.

Whatever they decide, the same people will complain about the final result. No system is completely fair. Hate to break it to ya.
