Actually, there is no frontrunner/favorite for Best Music Video because there is no outstanding music video this year so far. Humble, Formation, This is America. These are really year-defining videos. This year has none of it.

There is, except it’s from the 2020 calendar year

“MONTERO” & “WAP” are the only music videos that made a big impact. That’s still not saying much…

Yeah, Montero video was talked about too. Not because it’s great but because lil boy came out as a satanist. WAP was last year, i’m not counting it.

Anyone else thinks Your Power might not be Billie’s song submission?

Will Japanese Breakfast’s new album be snubbed in pop or submitted and maybe make it to alternative?

she is a rock musician, if submitted i’m pretty sure it will be in alt album.

Ari isn’t happening in Album of the Year, just wanted to put that out there for anyone that is still predicting her.

It feels like a lot of the reasons people are refusing to predict Positions in AOTY is because they don’t enjoy it.

I’ve already said this multiple times but pop is going to make up majority of the general field without a panel. It feels pretty likely that Ariana Grande, a very consistent pop nominee, would be one of the ones who benefits from this.

And even ignoring that, the album has 2 pretty big songs. It’s had pretty decent legs on the BB200.

I also think you guys are overestimating the damage its metascore will do. For one, this year neither Djesse Vol 3 nor Chilombo even had a metacritic page. As well, BPVA, which is under a straight vote has resulted in gems like No. 6 Collaborations Project over Norman Fucking Rockwell. Or Evolve over Melodrama. Even Alternative Album, which has been under a straight vote, has caused stuff like Hyperspace over Women In Music Part III.

Also would like to point out that a 72 metascore isn’t even bad, it’s just not Sweetener/thank u, next level high. Positions may not be critically acclaimed, but it certainly wasn’t panned either.
