The Grammy reversed the 33% rule for songwriters, producers and engineers in AOTY. https://variety.com/2021/music/news/grammys-expand-album-year-eligibility-rule-updates-1234981753/

Mr. Harvey Mason Jr. really wanted the job I fear.

“Recordings featuring samples are eligible in songwriting categories; however, the writers of the sampled or interpolated material are not considered to be nominees or GRAMMY recipients.”

I’m thinking Olivia almost a lock for BNA. She clicks on both commercial and critical departments. The only upset I can see so far probably SAULT but that’s my wishful thinking.

Didn’t Jamie and FTBC has blocked by the committee? Now that committee is gone St. Vincent got a better chance for nomination.

Yes they did? My point was that St. Vincent isn’t nearly as strong as they were. No panel makes a nomination for her way less likely.

They has a big Grammy names like Stapleton and Musgraves too.

I am currently predicting Chris. Granted, I’m taking him out the second Ed confirms the album but I am predicting him right now

J Cole doesn’t need to cross genre appeal. If the rap field fully supports him, he’s a nominee too

    lol if you think this.
And even ignoring that, rap has never rallied behind Cole before. Why would they do it now?…

    FYC
    AOTY: Blue Weekend-Wolf Alice
    ROTY/SOTY: WAP-Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion
    Best Drama Actress: Mj Rodriguez

    (Read the article ya’ll)

That’s just for the 75% requirement (from the current 50%) of new music on an album to be eligible for most categories (aside some craft ones).

The AOTY 33% contribution reversal takes effect immediately.

The only one who can stop Olivia at this point is Adele. I think she could sweep like Billie.

I feel like the 33% rule was fair. I don’t believe a feature artist should win AOTY if they only contributed to that one song. I wonder why they favored a reversal.

Did you know rock and alternative field likes her? She won some awards for MASSEDUCTION and self-titled project. They can support her like they did Fiona.

lol if you think this. And even ignoring that, rap has never rallied behind Cole before. Why would they do it now?…

Because The Off-Season is the biggest rap release so far, because Cole is well known in the rap community. Matter of fact he’s part of the big 3 of 2010’s alongside Drake and Kendrick. 2014FHD could’ve won Rap Album if Kendrick’s masterpiece TPAB wasn’t there.

    Rest in Peace MF DOOM

They need more ppl to love them I fear. Increasing nominees to 8 in general field, now featured artists eligible, they trying to please everyone to increase relevancy.

Just saw the rule change on Twitter and lol that’s almost a freebie to any artist working with an AOTY nominee.

To be fair that rule was introduced only few years ago. Drake had like so many aoty noms just by featuring on others albums. This will definitely help rappers a lot who usually feature on many tracks.
