Honey, what in the Selena Gomez is going on! Positions was NOT extremely successful.
June 9, 2021 at 11:20 pm #1204294208Lies.
Where?
Positions (song) spent 16 weeks top 10. That’s more than NTLTC (12) + GIAW (3) + Breathin (0) combined. And that’s not even factoring 34+35. Both songs also outpeaked all the Sweetener singles.
And as far as Dangerous Woman, the lead single peaked at #8 and spent two weeks top 10 and I believe 20 weeks top 40. In comparison Positions spent 16 weeks top 10. Into You was kind of a flop too, not even a top 10 hit.
So yes Positions as an era is just as big as those.
June 9, 2021 at 11:25 pm #1204294212It has less competition to get a nom. 2020 Pop Solo was extremely packed, this year her competition to get a nom is a Bieber song nobody remembers and a Taylor Swift song nobody remembers.
Positions is also more Grammy friendly than 7 rings.
But then again, no one is arguing that Ariana is winning Pop Solo. Olivia has that category in the bag. But thinking she’s missing is a little bizzarre.
YNTCD was also a bad song that nobody remembered and it still got in. Willow is still a mid hit which is having a slight resurgence on radio. And Taylor has literally never missed nominations? Even with her “cancelled era” Reputation she still bagged a BPVA and in her “flop era” she went 2/3 in pop + SOTY. I’m not sure why you guys are so insistent on underestimating Taylor. She might be pure filler but she’s a very consistent nominee at the grammys.
We know what happened with Bieber last year. Billie is a Grammy darling. Olivia is absolutely undeniable. Doja will have songs out. Lorde can sneak in too. Dua is clearly lover by the pop voters.
So nope, there’s not less competition. The competition is pretty much there. And it will only increase by September. I too am predicting positions in BPSP and I don’t think she’s likely to miss but it’s not out of pocket either.
Also btw, how is positions more grammy friendly than 7 Rings?
June 9, 2021 at 11:26 pm #1204294214For an artist as popular as Ariana Grande, you’d think she’d have won that category by now. Taylor & Billie seem to have bad luck in BPSP too.
Honey, Ariana Grande is NOT the Grammy darling her delusional fans think she is. She only wins Grammys when there is no competition (Best Pop Vocal Album, 2019) or when collaborating with “it” artists (Lady Gaga).
The reason ponytail keeps losing is much stronger competition. Let’s take a look:
2017 – Adele overshadowed Ariana Grande
2020 – Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, and Lizzo overshadowed Ariana Grande
2021 – Olivia Rodrigo overshadowed Ariana GrandeMama will have to be undeniable in order to win Best Pop Solo Performance.
June 9, 2021 at 11:28 pm #1204294218DW & Sweetener made MUCH more of an impact than Positions. It’s not nearly as big of an album or era for Ariana. Comparing the number of weeks on the charts is arbitrary when you consider their time of release. Positions didn’t have as much competition due to COVID.

YNTCD was not only 10x bigger than Willow, it also was a summer hit attached to an album that came out right before eligibility ended.
And how has “Taylor never missed nominations”?
Look What You Made Me Do missed ROTY, SOTY, Pop Solo, BMV
Back to December missed Pop Solo
I Knew You Were Trouble missed Pop Solo
We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together missed Pop Solo
Delicate missed Pop Solo
End Game missed Pop Duo/GroupTaylor has an iffy track record in Pop. Ariana is definitely more consistent.
Also Lorde missed to Kaleidoscope EP. She really is NOT a factor.
Lastly, saying there was no competition back in 2020 is ignorant. The songs snubbed: Someone You Loved (#1 hit), Without Me (#1 hit), If I Can’t Have You (#1 hit), Always Remember Us This Way (by a pop darling who won the year prior with a song.that didn’t even chart). If you were here that year, you know everyone was shuffling between 7-8 songs.
June 9, 2021 at 11:45 pm #1204294255Honey, it’s easier for white female singer-songwriters to win Grammys: Billie Eilish (BARF!), Lady Gaga (BARF!), Taylor Swift (BARF!). Poptarts who don’t write, like Ariana Grande, are NOT taken that seriously. Therefore, having a harder time winning Grammys.

June 9, 2021 at 11:55 pm #1204294266No one is talking about Ariana winning…this is about nominations..she has been a staple in pop nominations even for underwhelming eras. For her to miss pop genre noms when she has become an undeniable pop representative in the industry when she was namechecked in pop categories even before tun is just stupid. It is not based on any stats.
June 9, 2021 at 11:57 pm #1204294268R&B Song ~ pick up your feelings ~ Jazmine Sullivan
I really hope Jazmine wins a Grammy. Heaux Tales is my favorite album of 2021.
June 9, 2021 at 11:58 pm #1204294273rock song ~ like I used to ~ Angel Olsen & Sharon Van Etten
I need this nom to happen, the song hauntingly beautifully and both of them are two of the most loved critically darlings of the past decade with a grand total of 0 noms between them.
The video is also a gorgeously edited & shot masterpiece and I love how it pays tribute to ABBA’s Knowing Me, Knowing You. The branch better pull there.
June 9, 2021 at 11:59 pm #1204294281Ariana is not missing Best Pop Vocal Album, as of now, Positions is projected to be easily in the top10 albums of the 2021 Year End Chart of Billboard 200. The album is propably her second biggest of her career in USA, after TUN, as an album. Pop Vocal is also a category influenced by pop radio singles success, Positions had 3 huge radio hits, even POV despite not being properly pushed it is pretty high on USA radio at the moment.
June 10, 2021 at 12:25 am #1204294298Ariana is not missing BPVA or BPSP. Her, billie and olivia seem like safe bets.
June 10, 2021 at 12:41 am #1204294323Honey, Doja Cat is NOT happening in Best Music Film and/or Best Music Video.
