I’m just gonna be happy if Taylor scoops up like 2-3 noms. BPVA, BPSP and SOTY. That’ll be sweet.

But I only think she’s a serious contender in BPVA. Pop is getting pretty competitive this year and she already had her big moment with folklore.

Japanese Breakfast & Wolf Alice are the definition of committee picks. Do people really think they’ll get in on a popular vote? Hmm. Don’t think so.

I don’t think Wolf Alice & Japanese Breakfast would happen in the Rock field even with a committee. They’d never get in Alternative Music Album on a straight vote anyways.

Aguilera = One of the most respected vocalists of her generation.

Timberlake = One of the most prolific songwriters, producers, & artists of his era.

Both of them also paid their dues in the industry by collaborating with major sometimes even legendary acts from different fields. Which gave them actual cross genre appeal.

How is she competition for BPVA with Evermore?

Olivia, Billie, hell even Ariana are more likely to win. For the most part albums with multiple hits/strong relevance dominate that category.

Evermore is not only forgotten by the public, but her sister album with more sales and acclaim couldn’t win that category

Xtina & JT were associated more with the teen pop sensation of the late 90’s & early 00’s if anything. Selling upwards to 10 million or more albums didn’t hurt either. Olivia is not comparable to them or Billie/Lorde.

It’s literally not a thing at all. People are acting like Olivia Rodrigo is making Hannah Montana type music or something.

Olivia isn’t making music like Alanis Morissette either. But for some reason, users want to box her in this cross genre appeal lane that truly doesn’t exist. She’s primarily a teen Pop act who made a few Rock-ish songs. No different than Avril but with less charisma & personality.

Olivia is outselling everyone in current landscape… obviously it is not pure sales era..she will not sell as much as Jt or xtina did in the beginning. Even Billie did not sell all that.
I still see no compelling argument as to why she will not be taken seriously by academy voters… critics gave her good ratings.. audience of all ages are eating her music up… she has 2 of the biggest songs in the world this year but somehow she is nothing more than a Disney star apparently when people likely got to know that she is in Disney only after listening to her songs and getting interested in her.

All of that is subjective and doesn’t matter. She’s huge and she’s acclaimed, and teenage girls talking about regular teenage struggles have already won big at the Grammys (see Fearless). Your personal interpretation of what Olivia’s music is is clearly not what most people think.

This narrative that Olivia only appeals to teens is unfounded, especially with the amount of highly respected adult musicians who praise her. It’s the exact same shit that y’all say to every upcoming teen artist, who eventually always wins big at the Grammys.
