It’s time for SZA to be a Grammy winner. Silk Sonic, SZA, Jazmine Sullivan, H.E.R. and Giveon will all be over the R&B fields. I expect J. Cole to be all over the rap fields and Olivia will be the most nominated this year without a doubt.

Olivia will be the most nominated this year without a doubt.

Not really. She’s realistically only gonna have 8 submissions (BNA, AOTY, BPVA, ROTY, SOTY, BPSP, BMV) and she’s only getting into 6 of those.

By virtue of the amount of submissions she’ll have, most nominated will probably be H.E.R.

    FYC
    AOTY: Blue Weekend-Wolf Alice
    ROTY/SOTY: WAP-Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion

I thought she’d have Progressive R&B Album in the bag, but it looks like H.E.R. may end up in that category. I hope she can pull out a win somewhere anyway. If Jacob Collier is as loved as people said last year, maybe he can help her secure R&B song or SOTY. An absolute long shot, but oh well.

I see her winning for either Best R&B Performance or R&B Song but most likely R&B Song. She without a doubt as of now going to be nominated for Good Days in ROTY & SOTY.

    My R&B Predictions:

Best R&B Performance: Leave the Door Open (Silk Sonic)

Best Traditional R&B Performance: On It (Jazmine Sullivan & Ari Lennox)

Best R&B Song: Good Days (SZA)

Best Progressive R&B Album: Back of My Mind (H.E.R.)

Best R&B Album: Heaux Tales (Jazmine Sullivan) *my prediction until Silk Sonic releases their album.

NFR and Melodrama got nominated in AOTY most likely due to their cross-genre appeal than BRP. Both records were one of the most talked and impactful albums of their respective years so I’m not surprised if some voters from rock, country, Americana actually did vote for them, period.

She’s got a chance for multi-genre nominations if rock voters like her too.

    Long read soz:

I feel like after Melodrama, lorde has garnered a sort of cult following. I remember when Green Light came out, it was received horribly. People called her a pop sellout. Melodrama had amazing reviews but I feel like it had a poor overall reception amongst the public and all. Then it got nominated at the grammys and since then lorde has amassed a massive following and interest in her work despite her complete social media absence. Which is pretty impressive considering it IS the social media era. I mean, Melodrama made it into so many decade end lists despite not being very recent. The album maintained her popularity.

I think she’s definitely above Lana considering Lana has never even won a Grammy before. Lorde won the coveted SOTY which meant that she did have a lot of round the table support back then and I can see it happening again. She’s one of those artists whose albums transcend genres so even is she doesn’t make it in pop, I can see her making it in the general field because of voters from other fields voting for her too.

A lot of it can be said true for Lana too, I think if NFR came out today and had similar hype, it would’ve made in regardless of the committees. But COTCC wasn’t that splashy or popular. Solar Power is looking to have excellent acclaim and Lorde does have hype.

TLDR: Lorde can still get in (the general field) if the year continues the same way and her album has rave reviews.

Not enough pop support doesn’t mean certain artists have no chance in general field. Post Malone did it two times already, Taylor lost BPVA yet snatched AOTY. BRP card only makes sense if the artists literally unknown.

Get real!  SZA is NOT winning Best R&B Performance or Best R&B Song.  “Good Days” made little noise and is already forgotten.

Yeah if Good 4 U does indeed get submitted to rock, she’s getting 2 easy noms there.

    8. Can’t Put it in the Hands of Fate- Stevie Wonder ft. Chika, Rapsody, Cordae, and Busta Rhymes

I think we should definitely keep an eye out for this song. Talks about BLM and if we’re thinking that veterans will overperform without the panels, Stevie Wonder would be one of the ones who’d benefit.

IDK what to do with that Stevie Wonder song. It is indeed very baity, and it has four Grammy nominees attached, but they’ve been kinda snubbing veterans recently unless they’re underrewarded like Tanya Tucker.

MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) - ROTY, SOTY, Best Pop Solo Perf., Best Music Video
INDUSTRY BABY - Best Melodic Rap Perf., Best Rap Song
