This year is looking weak so far for rap ala 2019….
if that’s the case I hope we get a Tyler, the Creator winner. I love Nas but Freddie Gibbs served with his album. I hope someone will release a la Jay Z or Travis Scott. The latter is due for some love with the Grammys.
Brockhampton and clipping dropped some of the best rap albums of the eligibility period. I think currently Megan is the frontrunner in Rap Album.

– CB2 – Cardi B
– Man On the Moon III: The Chosen – Kid Cudi
– Montero – Lil Nas X
– Good News – Megan Thee Stallion
– Soul Fly – Rod Wave
– Utopia – Travis ScottI would like to see Brockhampton nominated but it’s kind of unlikely since none of their previous albums got a nomination.

April 14, 2021 at 1:58 pm #1204200729Other contenders for Rap Album:
– Slowthai – “TYRON”
– Big Sean – “Detroit 2”
– Brockhampton – “Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine”
– Playboi Carti – “Whole Lotta Red”
– Drake – “Certified Lover Boy”
– Ghetts – “Conflict Of Interest”* Ghetts’ album currently remains one of the top 2021 albums in critical reception (95 in metacritic) and features lots of namecheck artists but I’m not sure how much the Grammys will acknowledge British rappers. This also affects Slowthai.
* Playboi Carti’s album got positive reviews too and it topped The Billboard 200.FYC: 64th Annual GRAMMY AwardsBillie Eilish: Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Pop Vocal Album

April 14, 2021 at 2:47 pm #1204200810I think we should keep an eye out for D Smoke after his Rap Album/BNA nods. I could see It’s Ok getting some noms.

Didn’t Lil Nas X say that he will submit Montero to pop or did he mean the song only?
April 14, 2021 at 11:46 pm #1204201503Honey, Cardi B will easily scoop up her second Best Rap Album win. I’m sure she’s releasing before the deadline.
April 15, 2021 at 12:10 am #1204201531Montero is more than likely going Pop. Cardi & Megan could be snubbed in favor of more under the radar acts.
April 15, 2021 at 8:09 am #1204201984Montero will go to Pop just like the 7 EP. Nas may submit something in Melodic Rap like Panini last time, but he’s in the exact same Pop boat as Post Malone.
Plus, I’m very sure Big Sean will receive a filler Best Rap Album nomination.
April 15, 2021 at 1:51 pm #1204202756Get real! Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion could NOT be snubbed in Rap.
April 15, 2021 at 5:54 pm #1204203062Megan just came off of 3 Grammy wins, they won’t snub her here for new acts when it’s clear that they very much like her. I sense residual love, especially with Good News proving to be quite stable.
Cardi has had 2 hits, one of them being undeniably massive with a political statement and the other being more recent.

Just like how Roddy Ricch couldn’t be snubbed either. It’s a possibility the Rap panel snubs them. Especially when there was a slight backlash against Cardi’s 1st win & Megan’s album has seemingly peaked.
April 15, 2021 at 9:22 pm #1204203170The panel changes every year. There’s no telling what they are going to do, but the contenders are kinda scarce right now.
